  1. Edited it, saw it had been quoted, unedited it and edited it differently, now the interim version has been quoted too. It's like two realities at once. Willie retired in 1975, Oates joined the following season, so it was Mahoney. I don't remember the Bird one, but it would have been Roger Jones in goal, in the previous home game!
  2. Was a classic own goal at the Boro, no doubt about that, another classic was when we lost 4-3 at home to "Tommy who's up Mary Brown Dochertys" Man Utd just after they came back up from Division 2 and I remember McFaul rolling the ball to Nattrass who passed to John Bird who passed back to McFaul from over 30 yards out and sent the ball miles over McFaul into the net. Daft cunt! I remember Graham Oates chipping McFaul in a midweek game in the first few seconds from about 30 yards without the oppo (Leeds, it says here) touching the ball. On his full home debut as well iirc. His career never recovered, unsurprisingly. First time I heard the phrase "Oh, for fuck's sake" x about 30,000 Poor Willie must have hated his defence. Edit: Nah, it was Mike Mahoney Super Goalie la la la la la
  3. I liked John Bird, Keeley still probably still holds the title of best own goal I've ever seen. Nattrass was a good player and one of the best right backs I've seen here, David Craig was the best as far as I'm concerned. Just caught the end of David Craig's career, so I'll take your word for it. He must have been good though! Keeley's og a terrific diving header?
  4. I used to love watching Nattrass and Kennedy as a kid and Irving should have played for England, but this was in the days when no England manager would come here to watch him because we're too far away and there was almost no national TV coverage, so he had no chance (I think only Malcolm Macdonald got capped in about 30 years and as a big-money striker he got all the headlines). Cool, composed, classy, versatile, he played right-back, centre-half, and midfield and was good at them all. He had a few good years at Boro when he left here as well. Helped them from Div 1 to Div 3

Also footballers have a limited career span unlike most other workers. I think most accept they are over paid but that's footballs fault. the thing is while the pay they get is ludicrous (at the top level, down the leagues its a different story) but the income they generate for clubs is also ludicrous so why shouldn't they get their fair share of the pie unless those people want it to all go to those wonderful board members all the time. A bit of balance so the fans aren't ripped off the whole time would be nice. Yeah, they're skilful and do things we can't do, have short and precarious careers and are entertainers, but if they are paid £20M plus, to choose a random figure. over the course of that career then it seems excessive. Not blaming them for taking it, not saying singers and actors and suits and dresses aren't also overpaid at times, not saying they all get that much, just, wow, that is quite a fucking lot of money. Take £19M and everyone gets a quid off per game you turn up for ffs. You won't starve and we're marginally happier. The bairn gets a fish finger sandwich this week. I know. Commie pinko beatnik I am.

So he's letting them have Ibrox in there. We didn't even get that little sop.
  7. Blue Nun? Where's your standards? I no longer have any, not since i shacked up with and twice impregnated a female Krogan. Should definitely have left the Blue Nun alone then. Now the damage is done you might as well carry on though. Sorry, man.

You just watched Sunday Supplement? He is a colossal twat like.
  10. Garry fucking Birtles - why? As a co-commentator it's like having a whingey old nana sitting next to you. "I could do that better" Really, random old lady? You took 30 games to score a goal as centre-forward for Manchester U-fucking-nited. It's what you're best known for. Are you going to shut up now? "I'm wearing winklepickers" Are you? Tremendous. When are they coming to pick you up? Oh, and lose that annoying Midlands accent, it sounds like the voice of doom. "That's the worst match oi've ever seyn." Terrific. I have no idea how much he gets paid for this shit, but if it's more than zero he is very very lucky.
  11. Thinnest silver lining ever. Sliver lining Witty bastard. It's annoying to think "I wish I'd thought of that", isn't it? Down with witty bastards.
  12. Watching The Footballers' Football Show on SS1, about this week's cup matches at first. Took them 2 minutes to mention Ronnie fucking Radford. They're never going to get over it, are they? Also disappointed they trotted out that if Bradford make it through to the final they'll be the first from the fourth division ever to do it. If anyone says that to you, Rochdale did in 1962, fact fans. It wasn't at Wembley then, like, so watch out for that trap.

Yeah, but they're in the 4th tier atm. Can't complain, its 'improvement' Makes this league season a farce though. Cant be much different from when we made the Premier League? The first time or the second time we won the league below and got promoted with no league reshuffle?
  14. He was just about to get the sack as well and was punching the air that someone was daft enough to take him on. Not as much as Blackburn, presumably, who we saved a fortune in compensation because we couldn't wait a few days. Such an embarrassing time. Is the fuckwit still a Champions League pundit?
  15. They'd probably strengthen their squad to cope with the extra games

Now here's a thing. I've seen situations where the keeper gives away a penalty but doesn't get a red because there's a defender on the line behind him so he's not "the last man". Yet swap defender and goalkeeper in that same situation and suddenly the defender is "the last man". Wtf is that about? The 'keeper's got a much better chance of saving a goal than a defender. Are goalkeepers not "men"? Is it implied that they're useless in one-on-ones? Not that there's a fucking "last man" rule anyway any more than there has to be "daylight" between players on offsides. Stupid commentators and pundits.
  17. Just confirmed today I think. was always going to happen with the Europa game on the Thursday like.
  18. Yeah sorry about that, not normally me tbh You'd have thought I'd have stopped being so naive after following NUFC for so long, but you are probably right, if either of those got injured today we'd be up shit creek without a paddle. Learned to agree with your view on Demba ages ago though, it's a shame that these people play such a large part in something we have such an emotional investment in, but I can't really jump on the bandwagon and call people greedy bastards for wanting to earn more money, i'd be doing exactly the same. His hangers on can get fucked though, he's probably made a few people with little discernible millionaires with his moves around, I'd love to be a fly on the wall in negotiations
  19. But not in the PL. As if he should ever be. Another typical fucking weekend FFS. I'll settle for a slice of pizza.
  20. Surely this should be in Godawful FA Cup Officiating. Sponsored by I don't fucking care any more. Last night I deleted the highlights programme tonight and the draw tomorrow because I totally knew we'd play the reserves and they would play their first team AND give a shit. FFS. Can somebody just gimme a slice of cheese? FFFFS, man.
  21. What I meant though was that if Colo and Cisse were both left at home because they were injured, who else could we actually have brought in? I may be being a spaz here but apart from Krul and Marv, possibly Fergie, that was the strongest squad that was actually available to us today? Worrying. Aye, leave out the spaz thing though. Think Pards might have been economic with the truth about Colo and Papiss tbh, think he wanted us to lose today. From what he's said publicly I think he'll put Papiss in the middle from now on, which will suit everyone. Demba was a great player but apparently a pain in the arse, I fell out of love with him when I heard about his entourage. Meh, footballers aren't the brightest sparks but I'm not going to say I wouldn't grab a couple of mill if someone was chucking it at me. I'd probably beat my agents up to get their bit too Probably beat the cunts up anyway for a laugh tbh, they seem to deserve it.
  22. Hopefully a losing bet. I really fucking hope so. It surely can't be anything else.
  23. We played the reserves today, which is annoying, it's as though we gave up before we started. On live TV for the vultures. Ffs, now I've got to explain to the bairn why AP doesn't give a fuck about the FA Cup. Just killed Santa as well. FML. Happy days.
