  1. The only player I ever had on the back of my shirt Man, he was good. That overhead backheel against Fulham was something else. People used to rave about Ginola, but if you wanted a left-footed temperamental Gallic flair player I'd take Laurent every time - more goals, more assists, even more temperament. I see his li'l bro' is playing for Donny at the moment. Hope it works out for them all.

I probably know you, also being from Fenham, and ex Cuthys. But Im going to hide behind the internet..... Wait. What? Special Agent McMenemy and John Carver went to St Cuthbert's? Wtf? When I was there the best footballer they could come up with from their history was Mick Mahon, and I was there when Southampton won the cup, so I would have thought it would have got a mention. Carver would have been there at the time too, although that's possible given that we're a few years apart and people I know seem to know his family. Have I misunderstood? Nope, it's true Bloody people hiding other people's lights under bushels as usual

  4. Tbh we sent ourselves down, they can't take any credit for it, much as they'd like to. We even scored their goal for them as they were too crap to do it themselves. Without the o.g. we would have stayed up, innit? Meh, very small time of whoever said that, it gives a bad impression of Villa fans in general, just hope it's 6-0s from here to hilarity.

He is a complete fucking idiot, like. To be fair, the authorities are always bending the rules for us, I can remember the national outcry when we qualified for the CL by finishing 2nd, then did it by finishing 4th, and when everyone imagined we did it by reaching the FA Cup SF I think they wanted us all executed. Happy days Like it wouldn't have applied to another team ffs. That was hardly bending the rules like, it was just a natural part of the Champions League's growth and merely a coincidence that we were the benefactors in the first season of those changes. We've never qualified as semi-finalists either, runners ups yes, but the runners up always used to qualify for the Cup Winners Cup if the winners were already in the CL. Erm, that was one of those times when I was saying something I didn't actually mean in a way that a thoughtless idiot like a journalist or a mackem might, in a clearly unsuccessful attempt at sarcasm. Hence the last phrase and indeed the use of "imagined". I know we didn't qualify as semi-finalists, but the nationals were furious that we could have done and the FA actually changed their own rules to make sure it could never happen in future, just in case that set of circumstances came up again. In future I shall use this to indicate sarcasm, if I remember. PS FMP

This made me larf. We started that season in exactly the same place as them, the brand spanking new Division One. mackem history, man, it's a different book altogether!

There's a bit in the Chron tonight where Brewcie says the classy mackem fans drove him out because he's a Geordie http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/sunderland-afc/safc-news/2012/04/05/steve-bruce-sunderland-fans-hatred-drove-me-out-72703-30699842/ horseshit on the legends basically calling him a liar

Think he was on about that time at the SoS when they hoyed stuff at him. The mackem caller wondering why he had to bring up the 5-1, man. 9-1 FTM
  10. This guy is a professional journalist and he can't even string a few words together in the right order. The oily little shit.
  11. Just listening to the bellends on Rayul Rairdiur, apparently Allardyce's style of football doesn't suit the Ammers, who are the home of football, they all agree. Who would have imagined such a thing? Big scary diagonals, percentage football, it was never like this in the past when he kept getting binned by ungrateful Northeners. I'm just pleased there's someone to tell us all this. Thanks, guys. Keeping it Rayul.
  12. Yes, wish they would do this. Agree with this too. It's so obvious.
  13. I volunteered to learn first aid at work but the bosses denied me the opportunity because they "didn't want me to give them the kiss of life." Still angry about their idiocy tbh. I agree everyone should learn it at school. The number of people who panic and do nothing or the wrong thing might reduce then. Hope the lad pulls through, he deserves a proper go at life, 23 is no age.

Good mock-up. Makes it more believable that they're fourth and still whingeing they don't get enough attention. I believe you have talent, you almost had me!
  15. From Soccer Saturday (roughly) Stelling: QPR still have to play Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool... Le Tissier: Yeah, they still have to play all the top six...
  16. Wow, nice catch, whoever did that. Kudos. Apropos of nothing. Obviously.

he may have, didn't half drink a lot in the turnpike (chapel house),jingling gate (westerhope) and the ponteland pubs. saying that he wasn't much of a drinker, but spent time in there....more of a smoker really. A professional footballer smoking? I am interested, no sarcasm. It can't be in their best interests. I know idiots like Gazza and Wazza do, but I'm always surprised, naively, I guess. As an idiot myself, I know I can't be running around like you young fools with clean lungs, but then I'm not paid a fucking fortune to try to. Surely it leads to early retirement? But then again you do get to be cool and hip, so, swings and roundabouts. And there's the fucking fortune to fall back on, roll around on and light your cigars with. Bazza Vezza has gone up and down in my estimation now. The mackem tranny. As you were.

Thought they had that disgraceful maximum wage thingy back then. Not that there weren't ways round it of course. Just looked at his wiki entry and it looks like mackem work tbh. Meh, I dunno.

Wasn't he one of ours as well? Aye. Vaguely remember reading about him in a book about our heroes. Amazing winger if my memory serves. Inside forward (like "in the hole"). Scored 6 on his debut for us but was at blunderland a lot longer after us. Was from Bradford I think so no loyalties either way. Meant to have been brilliant but a workieticket.
  21. Good interview. Would have missed it otherwise as I never bother with the red button shit. Cheers, Mick.
