This is absolutely the crux of it. No more needs to be said about why we bought Wood. It’s absolutely been done to death and it was just pure expediency. It had to be done, there was no other option in the timeframe we had.

It is and we do but I guess we’re still in transition. Trippier and Bruno are the new Newcastle but we’ve still got a hell of a lot of the old squad here. Time will bring change for the better but we need to remember we are only just over a year into this new era.

There’ll be another FA cup next year. And the year after. We try now. We compete. We are moving forward and progress is never linear.

Well it would have been a bit harsh on the other teams if we had won the Premier League, the League cup AND the FA cup so soon.
