good news I think, hopefully his form picks up as he gets more games.

It’s a good time to make the point but incidentally I don’t rate Glasner highly at all, and didn’t before the hype either. Palace are overly reliant on their out of possession approach and fast breaks. When they have the ball they are horrendous with it. His approach will never cut it at the top level because he doesn’t have any idea how to coach a team to break teams down or keep possession.

I don’t quite agree. Much as I think criticism of him playing there a couple of seasons ago was absurd, I don’t think the 33 year old version of Dan Burn is a viable LB option in the PL and CL. But even if we said he was… he’s the first choice CB (at least for Howe). Likewise Livramento is the first choice RB. They can’t be the backup for left back because when the LB gets injured (and let’s not forget Hall was coming back from a long injury, there was always a good chance of him picking up knocks) it means one of them has to play every single minute. When that happens they will inevitably get injured too, and then the other will get injured when they have to fill in every minute; which is exactly what’s happened. You have to have 2 players for each position if you want to play in all of these competitions. We have: GK: Pope (Ramsdale) RB: Livramento (Trippier, Krafth) CB: Thiaw (Schar, Lascelles) CB: Burn (Botman) LB: Hall DM: Tonali (Miley) CM: Bruno (Willock) CM: Joelinton (Ramsey) RW: Murphy (Elanga) CF: Woltemade (Wissa) LW: Gordon (Barnes) We’re fine everywhere else, but it’s no surprise we have defensive issues because there’s an obvious hole in the squad there.

it was clear it would be an issue back in the summer wasn’t it, really? Tino played 37 out of 38 PL games last season, then a full summer tournament with maybe a week off before coming back for pre-season, then played every minute early season because there was nobody else when Hall got injured. Livramento getting injured a bit this season has nothing to do with being “injury prone”. It’s just bad squad building. Your first choice right back cannot be your back up left back, that’s crazy.

there was the shocking pass across defence that put Bournemouth straight in on goal as well, like. He has been better recently though. The application has been there.

honestly don't think Spurs are underachieving with the squad they've got. Think they maybe have one decent player in VdV but even he's massively overrated.
-
He has bags of ability which is why I'm starting to find him a bit frustrating, I think. In his first few games he looked so decisive and made a lot of first time passes and flicks etc. that were really effective. In recent times he seems to need to take a minimum of 3 touches before he does anything, and it's a bit odd. That's when he's up front at least, thought he looked better as a 10 today. The pass for Barnes is sublime.

on the contrary, there are two minutes to go and the pass is such that Botman more or less has possession of the ball. Instead he chooses to play the man and hope that Ramsdale is going to come off his line and claim it. In an ideal world Ramsdale does that but we all know he doesn't come off his line well. Don't take the chance, just clear it.

can tell the spurs lot are desperate to boo

Bruno's stutter was awful because he didn't actually attempt the whole point of the stutter (to send the keeper the other way) . He just looked at the ball and kicked it. He did the same but got lucky with his pen against Leeds but he shouldn't be allowed to take them unless absolutely necessary.

Thought we looked good in 4-2-3-1 and had much more control. When Wissa went off and Woltemade went up top he basically disappeared again. We're getting countered way too easy. Too many players ahead of the ball when we lose it, even after we've gone ahead. Think there's a lot to be said for the system we used to deploy when Burn was at full back and we kept a back 3 in possession. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't play Burn full back at all now, but I'd probably just get Tino to stay back alongside the CBs and do a similar role from RB instead.

does this count as finally beating Iraola? We're winning the lot

give him the keys to the city

just refreshing the page waiting for turnbull to put us out of our misery
-
that's a shocker from Bruno. Does nowt to try and send the keeper the other way.
-
Woltemade is starting to irritate me a bit Save Rambo!
-
he needs a long run of games but not sure we can afford to give him it. He looks absolutely shite at the moment.
-
Botman has so much time to just clear the fucking ball, man. 2 minutes to go ffs. Unforgivable defending.
-
Botman jesus fucking christ
-
wish we'd try Gordon and Barnes on the opposite wings

the worst part of our game is that when we give the ball away it nearly always results in a chance from a counter. We're so bad at stopping them, and we're always so badly exposed.
