He was ok. What I would say is that I don't think you can play him an Willock in the same midfield really. Especially in a game where you expect to dominate the ball. Neither have any ability to get involved in build up at all. Our solution seemed to be Tino coming into midfield sometimes, but Tino isn't the best at that tbh. This kind of thing isn't going to help us involve Woltemade more: Like, this is very silly. Woltemade's average touches are behind the entire midfield 5: Midfield always needs at least two from Tonali, Bruno and Miley as it stands imo.

when Bielsa was manager and they painted a load of murals over the city it felt like a football city. Was pretty cool. A lot of people go to the games from the surrounding towns and villages though yeah, and a lot of those people also like rugby, the freaks. I don’t think I’ve been anywhere that gets near the level of Newcastle in terms of feeling like a football city though, so you guys probably have an unfair standard to hold everyone else to

why's the ref not just given that in real time ffs
-
Normally I’d say sell but Burn and Schar are really old
-
Tomiyasu is free still I think? Injured a lot but might be worth a punt until the end of the season. Was one of the best 1v1 defenders in the league when fit.
-
it was a great take by KDH but Tino should’ve stopped him taking it down so easily. Was definitely the main one at fault, I just don’t think he was expecting the touch to be so good.

it’s fair enough coming out like that if the ball is central but… this was wide and going nowhere. Really, really vexatious.

fucking hell. ACAB but French police are the worst, man.

the issue is this one, which says it all. We scored and then let them have all of the momentum. We go in at half time thinking we're doing ok because it's still 0-1, and then act all shocked pikachu face when Marseille score twice in quick succession. We can't just keep trying to defend one goal leads like this. It's not what we used to do when at our prime under Howe at all. You can't just surrender all momentum in the game just because you've gone ahead, it's suicidal.

watching the Thiaw header that was cleared off the line on 4 minutes... I think any normal player gets their head on the end of that in front of the defender, but Gordon didn't want to get hurt. He's regressed so much since his ego got inflated cataclysmically from that one good season.

the loss is mostly on Pope, like. Unforgivable mistake.

£60m for Elanga looking like one of the WOAT transfers

Bruno's passing has been so bad today

these are in full on shithouse mode now
-
tactical fouls when the counter press is beaten have always been a massive part of Pep’s game. I guess it’s understandable that their own fans are blind to it, like.
-
possibly Lewis Hall tbh. I don’t think other club’s fans have any idea how good he is. They think the likes of O’Reily and MLS should be playing for England ahead of him
-
so he’s the real deal, then. Keeping Haaland out the final confirmation of that. I thought we’d overpaid dramatically but it looks like an absolute steal at the moment.
-
he has really great qualities that the team is otherwise missing, really. Gets into goal scoring opportunities all the time and has the finishing ability to back it up. Should be first choice imo. You’re going to get some quiet games but I reckon he gets 15+ goals in this team over the course of a season if he’s first choice. Unlikely to get sent off and miss important games too.

woke up, looked at the scores, little tear in my eye

will I wake up at 2:30am in the morning whilst on holiday in Tokyo to watch our bi-annual shitfest against Man City?

some comments from him just gone up on the club site https://www.newcastleunited.com/en/news/i-think-everything-is-perfect-sandro-tonali-opens-up-on-life-at-newcastle The supporters love him. How happy is he at Newcastle? "I'm really happy," he replies. "I try to live a very easy life. I'm happy with my family, my family is happy here, and so I think this is perfect for me, perfect for my football. "I play very good football now, so I think everything is perfect now. I don't want to change anything for my life because everything is 100 per cent; everything is very well now and I think this is perfect for me and for my family."
