Despite having been coached by Pep, I still reckon Rafa would get more out of Stones if he worked with him defensively.
-
Might be a different story when Pep leaves next year, they’re banned from Europe for two seasons, and top players don’t want to stay or sign as a result...
-
Them 3 wont even be in future plans once takeover is done Why? If the takeover goes ahead and they have intentions to invest it still isn’t going to be like the Chelsea/City days where full squads are bought and sold. We definitely need another striker but I agree with SAK[/member] , if we get some quality centre midfielders the whole team will look better. I think Almirion and ASM will be here for years and rightly so I'd be surprised if they are anywhere near the team for 21/22 season Lol...there are far more pressing needs than to replace those two. They’ll easily be here next season!

First news concerning us and Nagelsmann... https://sportslens.com/guillem-balague-newcastle-united-have-rb-leipzig-manager-julian-nagelsmann-on-their-radar/296014/

Saw Vilas-Boas say last week that he wasn’t interested in any return to England basically under any reason.
-
Keep Willems? He’s not ours? Given the potential cash, are there other options?
-
He is. 12m after tax apparently. If Poch came on 19m, he’d be getting 10m after tax.

Me neither, but he has plenty of fans here. Don’t know if he fulfils the whole ‘project’ thing either, like Rafa does.
-
Bring him home Amanda!! The King still has unfinished business here!!

So who would you choose?
-
Fuck, that’s nice. Although I’d prefer maybe a different colour to the grey collar- cream perhaps to reminisce about the 95 away shirt?
-
Sounds like he might be waiting for a more established top team than us currently then He’s turned down overtures from Real last year as he has said he’s still learning and wants to progress at ‘smaller’ teams before going to a job like that in his 50’s.

Nagelsmann has been called the ‘mini Mourinho’ for his man management skills, although tactically, he is far more attacking (see the quote above when he mentions entertaining the fans). He works under a DOF (currently Ralf Rangnick) so I’m not sure about how that impacts on his signings, but his current team is littered with young, technically competent, international players (Werner, Upamecano, etc). He seems a little Klopp like in being forthright but also very grounded- he skateboards to work across the city for example. He implements the latest technology in training- he’s instilled a giant video screen at the training ground with multiple cameras so that he can watch, analyse and inform the players about their movements. Seems like a perfect fit for us in all honesty.

Just discussing. It originally emerged as we discussed/were asked who we would like. Sadly, I haven’t seen any media links though.

Why not? He’s long wanted a project in England, loves the league, has learnt the language, and knows that he is still learning and a young manager, hence why he’s turned down bigger jobs like Real last year. It's completely deluded to think Nagelsmann would leave for us man Why though? I think he’ll be at RB for at least 2 more seasons until he feels confident to make leap - RB will complete his footballing studies so to speak Fair enough. I feel like we could be the next step up from them in terms of pressure, fan base, funding, new experience outside his home league etc. I appreciate Leipzig are in the Red Bull conglomerate, but they’re still not one of the heavyweight teams in Germany.

Nagelsmann: Real Madrid called just before Leipzig landed their man on a pre-contract agreement in 2018. But it was too soon. ‘I said no to Real but it’s important to say I didn’t have a contract (offer),’ he says. ‘They wanted a meeting. I would have had two weeks to prepare, to learn Spanish. I have a lot of time. I don’t have just five years to earn all the money. I have 10 or 20 years to earn that. If you’re a manager at 50 then you don’t say no to Real. Now I can decide what is right. ‘Here, I have a chance to make mistakes and learn from them; to become a better manager. You don’t have that at the biggest clubs. If you don’t win, they won’t talk about why. They’ll fire you.’ ‘Pep and Jurgen tell me that the Premier League is crazy, a hard one. In the future it is very interesting for me. It’s normal for a young guy in the Bundesliga that there is a club in England interested in you but I don’t focus on that. I have a contract for four years with no exit clause. Some day there could be a club who phones me. The big Premier League clubs will only call me if I win a title in Germany.’ Nagelsmann speaks passionately in near-flawless English about the need to trust the instincts of his attacking players. ‘Always be an entertainer,’ he says. ‘I have rules in offence but it’s all about players finding the right spaces and solutions in the right moments. We have to entertain the supporters. It’s not only about defending and “don’t concede”. Those quotes suggest that a club like us, under the new owners, would be the perfect fit, both for us and him.

As everyone says, the manager is the most important part of any team- I’m sure the (potential) new owners would happily pay for the right man to lead their project, rather than go for someone simply unemployed and then pay for transfers. Plus Rafa is also under contract and seems to be the running favourite?
-
And yet, despite all that, no one has argued against the likes of Allegri whom is already deemed world class and elite?

I don’t think it’s official yet, but with lack of match day revenue, loss of ticket sales, loss of broadcasting money, potential loss of league money etc etc, it seems fairly certain that FFP will either be relaxed or suspended for a period of time (2 years has been talked about) in order for struggling clubs to remain and pay staff/players etc. It certainly makes sense theoretically, but the advantage for ‘well off’ clubs is obvious. https://www.football-addict.com/en-us/article/home/uefa-entertaining-financial-fair-play-relaxation-amid-coronavirus-difficulties/5e8df7c912fb4645820a4d73

The question asked was how much do you think the potential new owners will spend not what they could spend. Anyone expecting Man City/Chelsea levels of spending will be in for a disappointment. They’ll not be spending £100m per window Why not? We know nothing about their intentions or policies, other than presuming they want success and positive media coverage both in and off the pitch. It could be 100m, it could be 10m. Because everything that they’ve said so far through the media (steady sensible investment) along with the more researched neutral commentators and journalists (Not a PSG/Man City type scenario) have suggested so for a start. The question was asked. I give my balanced opinion. £100m a window (£200m a season). No chance. I don’t think that they’ve said ANYthing through the media yet, either directly or otherwise. People taking about steady sensible investment are only going off their opinion about FFP and the apparent inability to copy the Man City / Chelsea route. They have. Go check. Nothing official but that’s not how it works until signed. Same question to you. How much do you think they’ll spend per season? As I already said, I don’t know how much they’ll be spending. No one does. But as the posts since your comment have stated, 50m doesn’t go a long way these days (Joelinton for 40m...), It’s already being suggested that FFP will be relaxed, the Saudis aren’t a slow and steady type - especially if they want comparisons (and victory over) with the Man City / PSG owners. What have you learnt from the press about their intentions? I genuinely can’t find anything other than guesswork?
