Would be real nice for us if Burnley could start playing Hart again. Heaton has stopped 2 or 3 certain goals just this half
-
Wrong on both points mate ?
-
Hope they’re this bad when we play them again

Amazing how Bournemouth can go from being incredible to barely even interested depending on their opponents.

Surprised some people are saying there’s no chance we’re going down. I don’t think anyone from maybe Brighton down can really say for certain they’re staying up. It’s more the games where we’re the onus is on us to attack I’m more worried about. I suppose it depends on what Almiron adds but I don’t think we’ll ever have a healthy gap from the bottom 3.

How have we started?

Sort of fancying a point of some description down there but could just as easy see Spurs making short work of us. Mostly hope it isn’t a slap back to reality after City.

Is it likely we’ll have him in the squad for Wolves given Japan lost in the final yesterday?

I'm still buzzing from seeing that last night. Apart from a couple of moments I never really felt like City were going to break us down in that second half. I thought Perez's movement was fantastic, him and Rondon were often the only two players in the City half and still managed to create dangerous situations from there persistence - he's almost a really top class player if he was more clinical. I'd say that back line from last night is our best too. I like Fernandez and even Dummet on the defensive side but that back 5 even with Richie as a wing back just seems to work. All of the centre backs have a very clear role and all seem to execute it very well - Lascelles particularly did a lot of the ugly stuff brilliant, some solid shoulder barges. Also does anyone know why only one half of the ground seemingly bothered with those banners? Did they not get enough to get them to the far side or something? The strawberry corner were class as usual fwiw.

Seeing him at the match last night he's much better than I was expecting. He's a lot more mobile and athletic and he seems to cover a lot of ground quickly. He also could have easily hidden in those last 10 minutes given his inexperience but he seem to take it upon himself to make sure we saw that win out. Hopefully if he keeps developing and starts working a few more forward passes we could be looking at a decent player. On form it'd be hard to argue someone should be starting over him even if everyone was fit.

Thought he was incredible tonight. He could have easily hid in the last 5 minutes due to his inexperience but he seemed to take it upon himself to see the win out. Great to hear the “one of our own” song being belted out for him from the corner. On form I’d start him even if everyone was fit.

Lineup as expected. Hope Longstaff has some good moments against one of the best teams in the world.

Think I’ve been reading too much anti-Ashley stuff lately because I’m convinced the timing off this to quash the protest with most fans about to bubble over. Then an unsurprising Lukaku style collapse at the last minute.

The daftest of daft wins tomorrow 2-1.

Arguably one of his worst games for us today. Absolutely nothing from him for 90 minutes. That tackle on him was rancid mind.

Really disappointed with that. Watford have had two real attempts and scored both and barely got out of second gear. The first goal was quality from Hughes but I thought Woodman could have done better with it. Same story from us, organised but nothing going forward. It’s obvious why he isn’t risking Rondon because we won’t win another game without him if the alternative is Joselu - another wasted start for that lad. That cup tie was there to be won for us today but too many didn’t seem to want it in that second half.

U don’t come round these parts often do you pal ?

Thought we played ok without really threatening so a bit surprised to read such a negative match thread. Thought Murphy looks like he might make something happen against their fullback and I’m surprised how far Longstaff has come in such a short space of time. Not a great deal worth mentioning but equally not absolutely diabolical like some people seem to be making out.

Sort of believe he failed his medical. Given what happened with Slimani last season it’s pointless taking a risk if someone is going to miss a lot of games. That isn’t the problem though is it. We’ve very clearly not been interested in buying/loaning anyone while Ashley thought he had a chance to sell. So once again we’re aiming for Rafa’s 3rd, 4th choice targets etc scraping around in the last week of the window trying to salvage and already bad situation and then when something like last night happens it’s a massive kick in the balls for any dwindling positivity left remaining. People always say stuff like “lock this thread” etc but we always end up getting some sort of desperate deal. I can’t even see that happening this time.

Didn’t know enough about the player to care about the transfer but it falling through over wages is just a reflection of the state we’re at now. Can’t even finish a loan deal when the player is on our doorstep ffs. I’ve no faith we’ll get anyone now, loan or otherwise.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see him do well from regular football and a bit confidence. He seems to lack that belief in his shooting and taking on players he briefly showed when he first came. A little worried he may not have the technical ability for the top level though. I hope he comes good.
