    Steve McClaren

Some decent quotes from McClaren in here: http://bit.ly/1T4xnyS I find it strange people annoyed at him for trying to be positive. What do you seriously expect? It's completely different from the way Pardew went on. He obviously wants to get it right here and isn't playing the blame game. I don't think he should be slammed for that. Whether he's good enough to keep the job though...
  2. Like someone mentioned earlier there's been reports he may be fit.
  3. I think that's best case scenario so id be pleased to see that lineup.

    Chancel Mbemba

    What an awful season.
  5. It's recently worked for Man U. Play a young player with something to prove in their natural position over shoe horning someone like Aarons in who blatantly doesn't want to be there.

We also have to hope Villa beat Norwich...
  7. It's the second time this season he's been due a run in the first team and then something has happened and he missed out. Last time he got injured and now he got himself suspended. We could have done with him against WBA because his aerially ability is probably the strongest we have.

    Steve McClaren

f*** me St1pey. What have you based that on?! You must be a very optimistic and positive bloke. I was convinced he'd get it wrong, the day we brought him in. By wrong, I mean lower to mid table, whilst playing better football than Pardew and Carver. Maybe flirt with relegation a couple of times during the season. I was still willing to give him a chance. Turns out, after about 5-6 games, it looked like the writing was on the wall. Still, I didn't expect to be in the bottom three all season long I always found him knowledgeable in interviews and pundit roles. Derby were absolute gash when he took over and he had them way overachieving. They've spent fortunes since he left and they're still garbage. I was so sick of Pardew and his arrogance I really liked the idea of having an honest bloke who's widely regarded as a good coach that could improve the underperforming players we had/have. Although the biggest reason was he was doing the punditry in our second leg against Benfica and he basically tore apart Pardew's tactics and explained why we were getting run over in the middle of the pitch, it was like an on air job plea. I was convinced if he'd got a chance for us he'd sort us out... Other fine pieces of prediction work from me was seeing Didier Zakora in an early ACON and being convinced he'd go on to be one of the best players in the world. It's like I've got a knack for believing my own over the top outlandish bollocks. For anymore brilliant predictions like this sent me a pm

I'd absolutely love to be in a situation to not give a shit about losing I've no idea why we do it to ourselves as a fan base.

    Steve McClaren

I've been pro McClaren since we signed him and up until last night I've been convinced he'd get it right. I think if we fail to beat West Brom at the weekend we really need to take a chance on replacing him because the alternative is only going to end in the Championship. I can only imagine a replacement will be uninspiring though.

Still in a mood about last nights result and performance. Particularly the injuries and the stupid red card. I still maintain we can stay up. We can finish above Norwich, Sunderland and Villa because they're equally as disgusting as us. Everyone else are way ahead, finishing above them is the best we can hope for. I'm morbidly looking forward to going to the game on Saturday because I think the result will be telling whether we have a hope or not.

As long as Norwich and Sunderland continue to be shit we have a chance. This weekend is fairly definitive if we fail to win and results go against us though.
  13. That's arguably the most Newcastle thing I've seen tonight. Fail to strengthen the defence when it's clearly a weak point and then manage to lose two to injury and one to a red card. Also managing to successfully kill any hope the new signings have made to the fan base. While Norwich are still shit there's some hope. God knows what that lineup will look like on Saturday.
  14. Surprise win for us tonight. Mitrovic to find his goal scoring touch.

    Seydou Doumbia

That chronicle article is definitely worrying. It would certainly explain why the medical took so long. I really wasn't bothered by the transfer, I've never seen him play in the Champions League where he looked good so any goals will be more than what I'm expecting. I hope I'm wrong about him mind.
  17. I didn't expect the deal to go through but I'm rather gutted it didn't, he would have been a fantastic alternative to Mitrovic. I'm pretty certain the club weren't hopeful either because I can't see how they'd have incorporated Mitrovic, Perez, Doumbia and Berahino in the match day squad.
  18. I can't help but respect their chairman. If the roles were reversed I'd be furious if we were selling our best player to a relegation rival. There's no way we'd stand that firm on a player over two transfer windows.
  19. Sky Sports News really need to stop using Football Manager stats it's embarrassing.

    Seydou Doumbia

The thought of either Doumbia or Gomis coming in and replacing Mitrovic is ruining this window for me. They both play for teams desperate for goals yet they're trying their best to flog them. It'd totally hinder the Mitrovic's progression in favour of two over rated cart horses. I know Doumbia had mint speed FIFA stats or something and everyone faps over him but every time I've seen him play he's been garbage. If not Berahino then Remy, if not Remy then stick with what we have and give Perez some chances as a lone striker if Mitrovic isn't doing it.
  21. This is probably the most sensible transfer window we've had in as long as I can remember.
  22. It'd never happen but signing Gibbs would be a fantastic deal for us to pull off.
  23. More press reports saying we're considering Gomis but his wages would be a stumbling block.. Uhhhhh! I'd rather we recalled Armstrong than wasted time on him.

    Florian Thauvin

This could be blind stupidity on my part but even if he does leave on loan I don't think it'll be the end of his career here even if he does go out on loan, assuming we're still in the Premier League next year which isn't looking likely. He's obviously lacking confidence and needs game time to get that back but given our dire situation we aren't in a position to do that. After this summer Sissoko will almost certainly be leaving and Thauvin could get a regular starting role in his natural position. Unless ofcourse he just really hasn't settled here and is unhappy. It'll be such a waste on what was a promising start. This whole saga has been rather embarrassing for the club though, I can't see how it would negatively effect any future attempts to sign any young players in France. We've made ourselves look like right mugs.
