Good luck to him. I really thought he'd make it when he first broke into the squad.
-
I also think he'll work out here despite not being a massive fan of his. It's probably based on hope more than reality though.
-
He had his most successful spell on the right, for England and Spurs.
-
I'm going to stick my neck out and say this will be a good signing because I've seen him do that cut in side shot that nearly went in on MOTD a few times.
-
I'm really not keen on Luke Edwards, he loves a dig at us since his ban but he's obviously got a good source within the club because he's constantly first with most stories about us.
-
I must just be biased after watching him slugging around at the weekend.
-
I don't think he's been good enough again lately. No goals this season and 5 assists is a really poor return given the amount of games he's played. I'm really not keen on Townsend for the fee reported but given similar game time I'm fairly sure he'd have a more impressive return than that.
-
I'm the opposite really. I think Remy is spent now as someone else mentioned. I don't think we'll sign Berahino, I don't think he's as good as his fee suggests but I think he'd do enough to keep us up.

Starting to get that gut feeling that we just aren't going to turn this around. I think we'll go down scrapping unlike last time but I just can't see us out performing Norwich given the fixtures, which is really quite pathetic. I know it's easy to get caught up with the hype or the pessimism of the forum depending on the result at the weekend but I think we're knackered now. Obviously we could survive and have the games to do it but I don't think we will. If any of the bottom three survives I'd be staggered.

He's usually quite honest but that MOTD interview I've just watched is cringe worthy.
-
Would love him to drag these into a relegation fight somehow.

No. No we didn't. How did we not? He obviously didn't think any of the centre backs could play at left back while keeping the rest of the team the same or I'm guessing he would have done it considering Colback was supposed to play there. We could have just played somebody at left back and kept the same system. I'm guessing he would have if there was someone capable of playing there. I could be wrong mind.

I thought the reaction on here during the game was a bit strong considering all of the problems with team selection. We've had to completely change the system to try and work around this left back problem, we've had two new players in Shelvey and Saviet starting, Aarons and Lascelles have played about 6 games between them and we've had to sacrifice Perez to try and plug the gaps. We haven't got the type of squad to be able to work around those sorts of issues. Don't get me wrong the performance wasn't good enough but McClaren is once again getting pelters and I'm struggling to see what else we could have done. Most people seemed happy with what he was trying before the game. On the mild positive side the results were not terrible for us today, if Swansea lose it's more or less as you were at the bottom and then we'll hopefully have a more familiar looking line-up going into the next match. A slight side note, Thauvin must be finished here? We need a goal and he doesn't get a look in and he's starting Aarons who has played 1 reserve game in half a season ahead of him. I really wanted it to work out for him here but if he isn't going to be played he's taking up a spot on the bench. This will almost certainly go down the final weeks for us.

We've played well for weeks man
-
Given the disruption to the side id probably argue even a point should be regarded as a good result. I'm far less hopeful now than I was earlier in the week though. I've mentioned this a couple of times now but I'm really not moved by Aarons, I hope he proves me wrong.
-
Liverpool looking completely gutless. Shocking penalty.
-
What I don't understand is that if his desire is to move into coaching why wasn't the club he's supported and played for his entire career offered him something? I know you can't do it for every ex player but for someone like Harper I think he deserved it.
-
I was quite confident leading up to this game that we'd get a result before this whole left back crisis. It's clearly caused McClaren a lot of problems given his interview and I hope some sort of weird system isn't put in place to try and compensate for it. Also for those wanting Aarons at left back he had a spell there in one of the cup games earlier in the season for 20 minutes or so and got absolutely roasted. Not something I'd like to see again.
-
This might be a bit desperate but couldn't we have recalled Ferguson if we have literally no one capable of playing left back?
-
I've always disliked Gomis, even on a free last summer I thought it was a bad idea.
-
Was an absolute quivering mess in the last 10 minutes of that game. Huge result!

Personally think it's a bit of a risk bringing Saviet on for his debut in a game finely balanced like this.
