I don't get some of the hate directed at him now he's left the club and some of those Palace fans are probably justified slagging us off for it. For all I was pleased when he finally moved on from us I still respect the years of his career he spent here. I don't think there's been a player that frustrated me more than Shola but I was just looking at all of his goal compilation someone linked the other day and there was some good moments in his time here. In fact I was at his debut when Dennis Wise was trying to kick him all over the pitch and Shola was having none of it. There was a time when he was going to be the next big thing from the academy and given his injury problems and general shitness he just didn't kick on to that upper Premier League level. If it wasn't for him joining Pardew I'd have hoped he did well but I won't be happy until that charlatan is found out for his woeful management up here. I still think given the length of his career here and the commitment he showed to the club deserves some level of respect.

If we get turned over down there, Shola scores and I see Pardew gloating in his post-match interview I'll quit football forever.

I'm assuming they've known this for quite some time then. I guess getting back into bed with the Chronicle and their pro Carver campaign always pointed to this happening. I'm repeating what everyone else has said but I hope we're still in the Premier League by the time we've a new manager.

Given the stature of De Boer I just can't see him moving here. Garde and Tuchel are both young managers so it would make sense for them to take a certain element of risk and if they could have an impact like Pochettino did then they're instantly in a position where they'll be wanted by a few bigger clubs. De Boer is already at that level at what is he realistically going to achieve with us to get him to a massive club? It just seems like there would be too much of a risk on his part to damage his career rather than improving it.

For all I appreciated reading that article given the silence that has come out of the club it seems pretty clear that we're not going to get a new manager until the summer. If I had to bet I'd probably say Garde is their man but he can't take over until the summer for whatever reason. It's worrying the risk these people are willing to take given how easily we could become entangled in a relegation battle.

I thought him subbing Dummet for Williamson was bizarre today considering we needed a goal. I'm sure it was because he was fuming he missed that free header.

A hard defeat to take in my opinion. We didn't create a lot but controlled the game and but for two goals from no where due to ridiculous errors we'd have come away with something. It was also a definite penalty, I'm not sure how he's managed to get away with raising his arms up towards the ball. It wasn't pretty but we had a go today, more than we've done in a long time, so I don't get the reaction of some people. However unless we get a proper manager in and a centre back I'm struggling to see how that group of players will do anything but get sucked into another relegation battle.

I'm still not sold on him as a player. This type of performance is kind of what I associate him with given when I've seen him before.

Good game. Southampton look dangerous but we're much more positive than we've been. There's nothing to suggest we can't go on and win this.
-
I could literally vomit at his supporters in the media giving it the biggun.

For all I don't want him as manager I'm finding his honesty a breath of fresh air. In one of the recent Chronicle articles where he addresses people calling him a Pardew clone he doesn't evade anything. I don't think he has the capacity to lie or put spin on anything. I get the impression we're going to be more attacking in the coming weeks, whether we win or not is another story. Also, his quote abou how the club will be close to a decision after Hull has resigned me to the feeling we'll put off a permanent appointment to the summer and buy no players this window. So it looks like we'll end up having another flirt with relegation.

I'm becoming increasingly worried it's going to be Carver. Not acting and hoping we stay in the Premier League just seems like a step that will seem like a worthwhile risk in Ashley's head. Or at the very least, drag it out til the end of January so a new manager doesn't have time to ask for players.
-
Does that also mean Sissoko back out wide where he was diabolical last season and the beginning of this?
-
Jesus I hope this isn't Carver's attempt to make us miss Pardew.
-
Also, Gus Poyet on the Newcastle job: I'm fairly sure if Gus was offered the job he'd be straight over here. I'm sure most Mackems would vehemently deny it but I reckon he'd jump at the chance. I'd probably be pleased with it as well

I'm sure Luke Edwards just writes anything he fancies. Wasn't he the one saying Colo was going to be next boss a couple of days ago?
-
If we lose to Palace... It's barely even worth thinking about, his smugness levels will hit new heights. I've never actually hated a Newcastle manager before Pards did, especially towards the end of last season, so it's impossible to not to be pleased. I keep reading people across the internet talking about how we'll get no better than him but I still don't see why that's a reason to continue with someone as drab as he is. Good luck Palace fans, I think you're going to need it.

Given our set-up I think we'd be better off going foreign. There's more chance of playing a style of football that we want to see given the standard of British managers available in our price bracket. My preference would have been Tuchel after watching a lot of the Bundesliga last season but it seems odd that he's been out of work for so long given how highly rated he was, it seems odd. I still have a soft spot for McClaren though, I've got a feeling he'd be ideal for us.
-
It's almost a dream to believe that someone would come in and pay us a fortune for Pards but to potentially have hba returning as well could be fantastic. I wonder if any new manager could have an input on what happens to MYM? The only thing that could ruin this is a total shithouse appointment like Bruce or an equally uninspiring manager.

I'm kind of hoping Pardew doesn't do to him that he did to Bigirimana. He has a promising start to his career in the Premier League and for whatever reason Pardew decides he needs time to develop away from the first team. It's still massively infuriating how some players are undroppable despite a series of shit performances yet others seem to live on borrowed time in the first team.
-
Jesus! I thought the injury would be bad but not 5 months sort of bad. We've looked a far better team actually playing a winger in the wide position. I just hope he doesn't start shoving Sissoko back out there. I'd be surprised if we seen Obertan in the first team again.
-
I'm pleased he got his goal because he's looked like our best striker from the few cameos he's had. Whether or not that performance will lead to a run of games in the team is something completely different though. Pardew seems to "protect" the younger players or keep them out of the 1st team until they fall into obscurity.
-
I actually believed he would have been sacked after the Swansea game. I bought into the logic that the international break would be a perfect opportunity to get rid and replace. He's actually going to be here for at least the next game at least isn't he? An more worryingly, we're actually going to get relegated again.
-
I'm hoping for a draw today. Given how accommodating our opening fixtures have been I'm worried too many more losses and we're knackered. I certainly can't see this side fighting our way out of the bottom 3 if we're still there by Christmas. Another failure to win should be enough to push him out of the door with the international break a good time to get rid. Another loss would have that ominous stink of relegation about the club - especially a heavy one.
