I can’t shake how damaging this has been to us overall as a club though. I just wish there was another club interested so we could flog him elsewhere and move on. Same as others have mentioning this would all feel far better regardless of whether he stays or goes if we sign a striker good enough to be starting in the Premier League.

This is where I’m at now. There isn’t a “good” deal to be done for us now in business terms and I don’t think we’d be allowed to overpay.
-
Eze to Spurs seems like such a guaranteed success of a transfer. Given the prices £60m for him seems like good value too.
-
Genuinely think MSL would be a big success here. We’ve missed a bit of presence up front and I think with our wide players he’d do well. If Brentford want £50m* for Wissa I would prefer we went for this guy
-
Replacing one snake with another seems like a bad idea to me. Go for Strand-Larsen instead.
-
I’m starting to get Guehi vibes from this Wissa deal.

I’m not even a bit shocked Brentford are hard to deal with. They know we’re desperate and didnt budge an inch with Man u over Mbuemo. They’re also fucking awful and relegation would cost them a whole lot more.

I’ve just seen his assist this morning. Wow! It’s great to see him doing so well. Maybe we should have just taken the points hit that season and kept him and Minteh

I’ve given this transfer the good seal of approval

Come on man. It’s important to stay positive but a spade has got to be called a spade sometimes. “Transformative” was what was briefed and coming out of the local journalists pre-window. “only ones looking like mugs are the fans with unrealistic and misguided expectations” is a pretty shit dig when the club moved so slowly in the early stage of the window and then got gazumped publicly target after target. It was incredibly damaging from a PR perspective and certainly leads to questions about the project that need answering. Absolutely none of that is the fans fault.
-
I think that’s a bare minimum of what could be acceptable. Calling it good is what I disagreed with. It was labelled a transformative window before hand - fast movements. We’ve publicly missed out on major targets and made ourselves look like mugs. Then obviously the Isak saga. Calling it a good window is coping. That’s what I disagreed with. We might end up salvaging something and credit to the club for that but no one in their right mind so calling it good.

Not sure I agree with this. Ramsdale, Thiaw, Elanga, potentially Ramsey all improve the squad but only Elanga is likely to be a starter and he’s got some work to do to match Murphy’s output. Then there’s the no striker situation. None of the signings have really dragged us forward in quality. There’s no Tippier, Bruno, Isak, Tonali level of purple to be a statement of intent.
-
I genuinely believed he’d end up here as our second striker.
-
A bit presumptuous to suggest people didn’t watch Premier League games last season. He’s hardly a random European name and was a bright spark in an awful Leicester team.
-
Yeah I’m totally flat about this as well.
-
I honestly can’t believe how much of a dick this guy has been. He’s the best strikers we’ve ever had. We gave him a platform and Howe helped develop him to be one of the best strikers in Europe and he goes on like this? We’ve got no option but to sell now. I hope it’s someone other than Liverpool that tries to match it.
-
Oh I’m all about this signing
-
If Man City are letting Grealish and potentially Savinho go I’m assuming they means they’ll make some sort of late move in the market for a wide player?
-
Yep. He was the one I really wanted. I can’t see it not succeeding for him in the Premier League if he’s managed correctly - what would have happened under Howe.

Needed that transfer breakthrough to get rid of that rejection chain. They’ll fly in now…
