Despite suffering a serious case of head loss today but if we re-invest similar to how Spurs used the Bale fee as a platform I’ll live with it. The club have got to show they’re capable of getting deals done quickly though.

The thing is that is all very possible assuming we sold Isak swiftly and a well thought out list of players that would clearly improve us - I don’t trust the current people in charge to pull something like this off though.

I’m actually surprised how utterly foaming I am about this and how we’ve operated this summer. When they said transformative summer I assumed forwards not backwards.

Why didn’t the absolute mug say this at the start of the summer or before Liverpool blasted all that money on another striker? What an absolute disaster this summer has been

How is Diaz valued at that much money? If Liverpool sell him and go for Gordon it’s got to be close to the £90-£100m based of the Diaz value.

Someone said it on here the other day but it’s quite clear which clubs he’s in with and which he isn’t. Either on the payroll or who feed him information for positive tweets. Same with Jacobs. Even Ornstein has gone from just dropping transfer bombs to playing for interactions.

They’ve rolled the dice and they’ve had to. I’d be pleased if I was a Sunderland fan they’ve really gone for it. Let’s not pretend we couldn’t have signed all of those players for the same amount of fuss though. It’s a totally different market of player.

This is probably transfer burnout and forgive me for being skeptical here but seeing how Brentford played hard ball with Man U for the fee they wanted for their main player I’m really struggling to see us having Wissa for around the £30m mark. It doesn’t scream a transfer that’s going to conclude quickly given their recent influx in wads of cash.

If this was entirely in isolation then you could overlook it. We’ve missed out on targets and been moved to our 3rd, 4th choice too many times due to an inability to get deals done or pay the going rate. We’ve barely been able to conclude a solid transfer since Stavely left. At some point we have to look at those in charge of this as well as PSR. Either pay the asking fee for Trafford or move on if it doesn’t look like they’re going to budge. Same with Guehi. Wont bang on about it because I’ve said it in other threads but it’s a poor message to the really top players we have and off putting for new targets to believe in what we’re supposed to be about now.

This one really stings. Clever upgrade on Pope making us better in possession. Long term GK position would have been sorted like Hall and Livramento. Worse we’ve very publicly tried to get him for over a year. Sometimes you’ve just got to pay the damn fee. The club and recruitment team have got a couple of weeks to send a strong message as to what we’re trying to achieve as a club - I’m really starting to doubt those running the show now.

Same. We’ve messed around with this transfer for a year and lost it. Clear upgrade as well. Ekitike wouldn’t have been head of Isak.

The amount of “moving on” from targets we’ve done this summer has been from a PR perspective embarrassing. It’s also going to be hard to convince this Isak, Gordon, Bruno, Tonali standard of player that we’re still trying to be a top club.

Gutted watching that leaving vid. It’s probably the right decision for all parties assuming he’s replaced.

I don’t think we should be spending around the £30m mark on someone who’s gonna be second choice to Isak and at the end of their career. I’d much rather we went for someone like DCL on a free then spent Ekitike type money on someone who’s going vastly improve the first team.

Surprisingly gutted about this one I thought we’d stick out - assumed we must have had enough encouragement behind the scenes to go for it. Going for Wissa now seems awful.

I didn’t realise how much of a shill for the big clubs Romano, Jacobs etc have become until this summer window. There’s probably a bit of engagement farming in it as well but it’s becoming as unreliable as the back pages rather than what’s actually happening.

I guess it looks like they’re moving for him now. Keep seeing Liverpool fans saying they’ve got us by the bollocks but surely not signing there no1 target if we keep him and likely ruining themselves out of being able to afford him next year due to PSR isn’t exactly the slam dunk they reckon it is.

I find it mental how no one knew about this until Ornstein dropped it then Romano and all of these other twitter and local journalists follow on with the same news. I guess it’s important to remember than next time we get something like Liverpool have made a move for Isak and it appears to blow up and everyone seems to know the inner workings after the fact.
