That Wirtz fee seems high to me. He looks great. Had an unbelievable season the one before this one. There’s absolutely no scope in that sort of fee for him to be anything other than a Salah type club impact or it to be viewed as a waste of money. That’s a lot of eggs in one basket for Liverpool too given they don’t have a striker.

One of the reasons that makes me doubt this Hope article is he’s never held back any information at any point regardless of how damaging it’s been for the club because of the timing of the story. If he’d have known any of this he would have been writing “exclusives” any chance he got. I bet there’s probably an essence of truth in it but it feels like it’s been exaggerated a lot for his own benefit to me.

It’s amazing how wrong we’ve got this role since Amanda and Mehrdad left. I also think people are jumping the gun a bit with the Howe v Mitchell thing. It could be a multitude of reasons.

Wished he could have ended on a high. He’s been arguably one of the best strikers for us in my lifetime and will only look back with good memories. He’s run through sand all season though I imagine Leeds would be an ideal destination for him.

I’m sure with time, a summer of transfer and seeing us in the champions league draw I’ll be less moody about that but that was absolutely gutless against a completely non-entity of a football team. I totally get why that system was used v Chelsea but it was clear very early it was pointless here. It didn’t suit any of our attacking players in a game where we were always gonna face a low block. Barnes completely redundant in that inside right role. Same for Gordon on the left meaning Murphy couldn’t supply Isak. Isak was well off it again. The subs from Howe were shit and made little sense and the performances from those brought on even worse - Osula aside. Tactically one of Howe’s worst games for me.
