By specifically saying "worth a place in the first team squad" you don't think it's obvious that I didn't mean the starting XI? Ok mate. That's fine, I've obviously misunderstood the pointlessness of your post as I don't recall myself or anybody else on the board ever saying he shouldn't be included in the 25-man squad, you're not exactly making a case for him as a player as a starter, a bench warmer or simply someone in the squad to be used as 5th choice. Considering the squad is 25 players, the fact you were saying he should be in there isn't a step-up from what he was under any manager last season so it's hardly a platform to praise him on - so I didn't see it as being obvious at all.

£6m doesn't seem much of a bargain for a newly-promoted player personally. I've went for Francis at 4.5 on the back of what the Scout mentioned about his championship season.

He's only had about 2 months of football full stop. He hasn't played football even in a terrible side such as ours under any managers whether it be Pardew, Charver (not that that counts for much) or McClaren and he's off to a fucking 4th division German side - if he was that good and there was potential there then other, better clubs would be looking at him, even as a cut-price option. As I've said, even Perch and Williamson had their spells when they looked fantastic, so did this lad but the reality is he isn't and never will be good enough. I really don't rate him, but I'd still have him ahead of Gouffran - but that's about the best I can give him.

I'm not sure people are advocating him as a starter are they? But as a squad player I'd be more than happy to see him off stay. I'm not one to go hunting down quotes but that appears to be the general consensus. Got Depay in atm but really would like to include Mata. I've got no idea what LvG will do with him considering he had him dropped for a large part of last season despite him being their best player by far.

I've never been able to understand why he's so highly regarded here. He arrived as a young lad with a lot of potential but really only ever had about 2 months of good football for us. He's not a better player than any of our main options at CM (Colback, Anita, Tiote, Wijnaldum) so it's always baffled me how so many people say he should be a starter - he's a championship player at best and that's about as good as he'll ever be IMO.

I don't believe he's been training as long as the other players and with the complications/delays surrounding his VISA I believe he's unable to train with the team (may be wrong on that). Either way, there's absolutely no way he's going to be match fit so it's rash and pointless to just chuck him in. I'd rather wait till he can make a difference than just absolutely knacker him straight away.

Not if it means playing him unfit and risking totally unnecessary injuries just for the alternatives to play more games. He needs a chance to bed in, we don't want to absolutely hammer his confidence as well as his fitness immediately.
