Ashley refusing to back his man and making him sign his 4th/5th and not even on the list targets is the reason for our predicament and funds being 'frittered away'. Also the money that was 'frittered away' - with the exception of Sels and Lazaar (maybe argue Hanley, but we made our money back), all those players played a role last season in making sure we had a squad large and strong enough to go straight back up, which we did. While Ashley invested not a single penny as he took out from the Wijnaldum/Sissoko deals, as well as the parachute payment money.
