Hopefully McTominay and Gordon are just smokescreens while we are actually looking at players with real quality, such as Maddison and Diaby as mentioned above. The former are hardly going to excite the fans and give everyone a lift, whereas the latter 2 certainly would.

We have put ourselves in the great position where our targets are from the same pool of players as the rest of the big 7 (as we have already made it a big 7). It might take a little while until we are widely regarded as one of the best options against our competitors to join, although it seems clear that will increasingly become the case as we move from window to window and strength to strength.

We've done amazingly well to get rid of such a limited player. Shouldn't be difficult to find an improvement. Hopefully we can repeat the trick with a few others ASAP also.
