Pretty wild how far this thread has gotten from “I’m a NUFC supporter who is uncomfortable with the fact that the club is now associated with the Saudi government.” Which is a fairly unobjectionable statement and the offense that some seem have taken from it is entirely misplaced.

I don’t think supporting this club makes anyone an apologist for the Saudi regime, and I don’t think any of our supporters should be held responsible for something they do not have any control over. But the equivocating is intellectually lazy. And the outright pro-Saudi garbage that we’ve started to see and will continue to see is absolutely pathetic.

I worded my previous poorly, as the circumstances leading up to the founding of FCOM were indeed quite different than what we’re looking at here. I guess my point is that I wouldn’t begrudge any supporter advocating a clean break from the club to protest the new ownership.

Is that really any different than the circumstances surrounding the formation of FC United of Manchester? Just saying, as I imagine many here would’ve sympathized with that decision.

I do think we need to temper our expectations. We’re not going to be competing for world class players right out of the gates and that’s OKAY. The priorities for this season should be 1) establishing a front office framework (where one currently does not exist) and 2) keeping us in the league.
