The average playoffs/championship is more enthralling than the average PL finish, even with the hope that a result like last year's will happen again. This is why the Champions League is, imo, preferable to the end of the PL season when it sort of just, ends. It'll never happen, but a playoff in the PL would be massive. Playing to finish in the top 5 and saving yourself for the knockout stages is a horrible end to the season. That doesn't happen more than a couple games from the end. And it'd be easy to incentivize teams to finish as high as possible, not just to pass a certain threshold. Hey, if you dominate throughout the season but can't finish in the playoffs, you don't deserve the title.

The recalled PK was the most blatant example of encroachment I've ever seen, Henry was nearly in the box by the time Cooper took the shot. Between the initial switching of the home-home, pulling one back in DC, postponing the match in the snow, and Hamid's red card, NY really had everything going to their advantage in this series and couldn't find a way to win. Post-season is the best way to decide a champion. So much more intrigue than having it wrapped-up 3 weeks ahead of time as in Europe (last season's PL was an anomaly).
  4. So basically yeah we are supposedly trying to use Marveaux to drive the price down. Remy and Hatem either side of Cisse or Ba So much French up top

    Papiss Cissé

We definitely lost a step when Ba left.
  13. Yes the statement was hyperbolic, but Ian Darke is a staunch Pompey fan ffs About as far from being a Liverpool wanker as you can get. Hey, we went into Anfield and came out with a draw. They should be more steamed about not winning while a man-up than we should about leaving with a draw.
  14. Willo and Saylor, especially against West Ham and Mr. Carroll
  15. I disagree, if he had commanded his box better Suarez wouldn't have scored. And yet he still made 6 saves. It was a very good game from Krul. We likely lose this game with Harper in goal. And perhaps, despite this being blasphemous to say, Suarez just so happened to score a very good goal on his own, without Colo or Krul necessarily failing.
  16. That's cause he did do well.
  17. Even if this were true (it's not), who cares? Woodgate hasn't played for this club in 8 years.
  18. It's pretty remarkable how I keep setting marks for futility. Goal stolen from Nolan, clean sheet stolen from Cole and Hazard. Tevez does fuck all as captain. A whopping 18 fucking points with HBA and Krul to go. Fuck this game.

    MLS

Ya caught me Re: the above graphic. MLS generally does a pretty good job of putting their stuff out there in "trendy" ways. They've done well to market the league and sport. Probably has much to do with the fact that it's much smaller, but MLS feels much more like a community than any other footie league (or even among other American sports leagues). I really like how interactive their website is. And maybe it's the American in me, but I find the playoff format so much more rewarding. Granted, the MLS format needs fixed (over half the teams qualify for playoffs), but I like not having a champion decided until the very last game. Last season was the first time in how long the race for the PL came down to the last game?

  21. Just from what I've heard, you should get tickets when Toon plays at Craven. Sounds like they sit around drinking tea and nibbling biscuits.
