I think Bougherra would do better in the Premier League, considering it's difficult to be worse. He wouldn't be bad as a backup centre half though and would surely be a better option than Williamson or playing Perch at centre half.

How long until we're linked again? He was immense for Rangers, albeit in a poor league. I'd sign him, though at this moment that would apply for most professional footballers.

Makes pretty grim reading that. Well, we're 13th in the wage table and 19th in the transfer fees table, so I guess our current position in the Premiership table is just about right for our spending. In all seriousness, we couldn't sustain our ludicrous spending under Shepherd, but we seem to have completely gone the other way with Ashley. We will never compete with the top 8 consistently if we aren't prepared to compete with them financially, and that is the sad truth. I have an image of Ashley sitting in a big chair watching Sky Sports News, with a huge sign above his fireplace saying "You can't make money from a football club". It's like he's on a one man mission to prove people wrong.
