His quality is playing a final through ball to Cisse or Ba. They're not long balls over the top or just balls into a dangerous area, as Shearer would have us believe is all you need to do as a playmaker. Cabaye's quality is his ability to spot a run and weight a pass. For that reason I would rather he got the ball somewhere further up field so he can get his head up and make something happen. Don't want to see him winning the ball in our half and then figure out how to work it into an advanced position with his undoubted lack of pace.

Theres at least 19 of my mates going as it stands from Newcastle to Amsterdam. Likely to rise There's us 19 but then I know of about 15 others on the same ferry. Speaking to a few lads at poker last night and they were going via Amsterdam aswell. Is everyone on this ferry getting a coach that you've spoken to? I was looking at the ferry as a possible route as its cheap to Amsterdam but don't know how easy it will be from the other end to get there by train or something.

That's the issue for me, he's not really improving. He's had three 9/10 games for me in our shirt- Villa a, Man Utd h and Stoke h. Too often he's a 5 or 6/10 player, failing to influence a game. Think that's an injustice to his contribution last season. He was vital to that run we went on towards the end of the season from the WBA game onwards.

Think Tiote has been teaching him how to pass the way he blasts them into people at times.

The reverse ball was on to Ba as well, we'd split their defence and they should have been punished. Excellent play by Colo though.

There was one point during the game where he attempted to win the ball on the edge of the villa's 18, failed, then chased the ball from three players and won it on the halfway. To think he was the player with the most tackles in the PL last season, need to see this sort of harassing more and see him really forcing the game. Think he suffers from not have Tiote in there as well.

I didn't think he could endear himself to me anymore but then today he just amazes me again. Forget the goal, winning a corner off Bent's face from halfway deserves as much accolades.

Simpson is our weakest link granted, but seeing as we're stuck with him lets try and judge him impartiality as possible from now on. He's wank, but it pisses me off how the whole stadium groans the instant he misplaces his first pass of the game, whereas other players can get away with a lot more fuck ups without the same level of criticism. Can't be doing much for his confidence.
