Its a pity Totalsport finished for the summer last friday.... they've missed all the mackems 'excitement'. On Monday when 'The Don' took over, Radio Newcastle had a sports bulletin after the news at 5:30pm which mentioned it, and then stated that whilst totalsport was off for the summer, they'd have a special show if there was any big local sport news to discuss. Then the music was back on. The Don taking over obviously not considered big enough news to have a Totalsport special, then. Hehe.

Love how all the headlines on Twitter, etc are saying they've been 'taken over by International Consortium'.
  5. Aye, PP not mentioned at all in that article. Surely they should be a factor?!
  6. I wonder if these accounts will be the clubs reason for another meagre spend this summer, despite the uplift in TV revenues earned this season. Last summer we couldn't spend as we'd just got promoted. This summer, we wont spend as we are still recovering from the losses EFL season.

  9. Dunno, but Ms Staveley has gone very quiet since her interview with Caulkin, where she stated she was still interested, and would come back once safety was secured. Suppose a leak of West Ham (or any other clubs) interest in Rafa could also be trying to put pressure on her to come back with another offer, if his position as manager is indeed key to their takeover.
  10. Former Aston Villa and Bolton player Jlloyd Samuel killed in car crash https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/6292982/jlloyd-samuel-dead-aged-37-aston-villa-bolton-car-crash/?utm_source=TWITTER&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=SprnklrSUNOrganic&UTMX=Editorial:TheSunFootball:TwImageandlink:Statement:Sport Just after dropping his kids at school. Only 37.
  11. Another typical woolly statement from Ashley. Agree with above... stating the players are not championship players is almost suggesting that they are and have been good enough - thus, no need to spend. Then he uses the 'every penny the club generates' line again. As we know, its not necessarily the amount of money that's the issue - its the inbeciles that do the deals, not bidding enough, or dragging their feet, or not pursuing the managers first choices. That is what needs to change - bit nothing in the statement suggests that will be the case. Anyway, lets see what happens next. Hopefully they will agree to give Rafa the authority he wants/needs to do the deals he wants, and we can push on next summer and build on a decent finish.

    Rafa Benítez

Strange article that. Strange in that, it includes quite a few things I specifically remember them discussing on Totalsport this week, including almost word for word quotes from Anderson about how Rafa would like to spend any funds (the bit about 1 player for x or multiples players for y each). Almost like Craig Hope has created an article from stuff/soundbites he's heard on Totalsport.

I recognise that chap on the left. Thats "Odd Bodd junior" out of carry on screaming. Wasn't sure who that was so googled him.... Buckled! http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/02/10/article-1249810-0835BDAB000005DC-65_233x276.jpg

If Cardiff don’t go up, I’d throw good money at Warnock if I was them. Why would either drop down to that cesspool? Surely they could easily get jobs in the Champo. McCarthy has already briefed the local media that he wants it apparently. Mental cunt. Did they not hound him out last time?

From BBC: If Sunderland lose tonight they will become the first side since Wolves in 1983-84 and 1984-85 to finish bottom of the top two tiers of English football in successive seasons, and just the third side to have done so, after Fulham also did it in 1967-68 and 1968-69.

Another nail in the coffin... Wonder if the consortium was the one trying to get Eastleigh FC's owner to invest with them? http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/16178579.stewart-donald-plays-down-sunderland-link/ Totalsport played a clip of him being interviewed last night about it.

It’s unclear if the relegation clauses in their contracts extend to all leagues or just relegation from the PL, I’ve had a look around and cant see any confirmation. That said, Rodwell didn’t even have a clause from the PL So he’ll be sat on full whack next season unless they can shift him. Just found this... https://rokerreport.sbnation.com/2018/3/29/17175194/jack-rodwell-contract-revealed-what-the-forgotten-sunderland-man-is-set-to-earn-next-season Which suggests that Rodwell's pay cut was delayed a year, meaning he got his full £70k/week in the champo, but next season, it would be cut by 40% whichever league there were in (Chmpo or L1). That still equates to roughly £40k/week though for him next season, in League 1.

At work, and listening to this now. Great first few minutes and calls, as the reality dawns. Even the presneter was refusing to talk about the possibility of them going down, as it was inevitable... then has to apologise to 'Benno' and advise that they are officially down.

RTG really are the genital warts of football forums - the gift that keeps on giving:  Its great... they love dishing it out, but now the inevitable has happened and they are getting a bit (ok a LOT) back, they are complaining because no-one feels sorry for them - yet everyone could see it coming, and has little sympathy for them. Its a big reality check for them, that they aren't as well thought of as they believed....no matter how many 'Fan in Peace' topics they start on their inbred little message board.

I'm sure talk at the time was that a fee of £8m had been agreed for N'Dong at the end of the season, and he would be going. 6 players on loan themselves... but I'm sure Lua Lua was also only on loan? Just an option iirc, he’s never played for Watford and doesn’t get on the bench currently. Didn't realise Ndong hasn't played a single minute for Watford. Sunderland's transfer dealings have been so bad in recent years Ah right. Sure the talk (about N'Dong) on Totalsport at the time was that it would be permanent in the summer. Another surprise for them then. Just looked and Kazenga LuaLua joined them on a free from Brighton, but only until the summer... so he gets to escape.

But, but, I thought Boycotts and protests were a 'mag' thing, and they would rather appear classy and just bend over and take it every seyson??
