I have this on VHS somewhere, have watched it 10-20 times probably. When we were on top of our game we were amazing those days, easily the best in the country. Unfortunately when we weren’t we could be poor. If I remember correctly, after this game we went and lost to some cloggers.

Been listening to a Swedish football podcast called When We Were Kings. The latest episode handles NUFC, in particular the 95-96 season but also the uniqueness of Newcastle as a city, Geordies, Kevin Keegan and his grandfather who saved I don’t know how many miners from the West Stanley Pit disaster, David Ginola, Tino and a lot more. Great listen, but also very sad. We really were a special club back then, now we’re not even a proper football club.

I’ve followed them this season, at least they’re not rock bottom anymore as they were for a long time. They’ve had a real upturn in form since New Year and are currently 17th. But yeah, awful season.
