  1. My problem with him is mainly his lack of being able to pass more than five yards not physicality As per my previous answer, that's utter bullshit. I've seen him play multiple, pinpoint 40-yarders out of midfield game after game for Ajax. Your point stretches credulity even at SJP, though I can see where you're coming from, but in Anita we've procured, and ruined, yet another player. How that reflects poorly on Anita himself I know not. He was up against p*ss poor opponents when he played for Ajax. They walk through most of their games having enjoyed 70-75% possession of the ball. Doesn't make him good enough to play in the Premier league and he's been found wanting at a higher level. Aye, Feyenoord and PSV would never get near the EPL with luminaries like ourselves, villa, bournemouth and the mackems barring the way. Found wanting? No. Played out of position, played fleetingly, Pardewed - yes. If he were playing in an EPL team that wasn't the epitome of embarrassment then people would be singing a different song. Your average Eredivisie team (PSV and Ajax aside) would be League 1 standard. That's why they always go out of Europe early on. One of them even went out to a Scottish team last year (Aberdeen) and it's only ranked as Europes 9th strongest league these days. Believe me it's dross and being a good player there proves nothing, as we have found out. Feyenoord, FC Twente and Alkmaar in League One? Utter guff, as is all of your post, apart from correctly looking up the NL UEFA coefficient. How are PSV getting on in the Champions League, having lost three of their best players? They're not above the eliminated ManUre by any chance?! Now you're really starting to show yourself up. Twente are 2nd from bottom in the league and could be relegated due to the financial crises they find themselves in and AZ are just a bottom half side nowadays. Be honest you'd struggle to name a single player from either team. Just go back the last few years and see how many clubs they've still had representing them in Europe after Xmas. You're totally clueless. Clueless is an apt adjective to anyone who fails to understand that (more-or-less) outside the 'big three' in NL, the rest of the Eredivise and roughly half of the Eerste Divisie is pretty fluid. However, I can't be that clueless having done live ESPN commentary for the top two Dutch leagues for a season when my other half was working in Hoofddorp. I'll take ESPN's recommendation and the twice-weekly cheque over your ill-informed opinions if that's OK. Have you ever seen a game of football in The Netherlands?! Do tell. I had a season ticket at PSV Eindhoven from 2005-2012 if that helps. It would if I believed you. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/dutch-supporters-boost-sir-bobbys-1471152 Keep digging. It's missing the parts where you identify as 'James Kidd' and that you had a season ticket at PS all, let alone seven years. Keep trying.

  3. I was really excited when we signed him. I was living in Amsterdam at the time and working at the Arena for 90% of Ajax games and he caught the eye every game long before we picked him up and destroyed him as we have done to so many players before and since. Anita was absolutely peerless in get-and-give, fast, strong in the tackle and his range of passing was phenomenal. Another roaring success for the NUFC 'coaching' and 'management' team. Spot on. Still remember him coming on against Spurs and how excited I was that we had him. Such a shame how things turned out. Our business that summer piled so much pressure on him with him being our only signing as well, worst thing about it was Pardew clearly didn't even want him. Yes, I think Carr wanted him because he was quality, without any idea of, or consultation with, the 'management' as to where he'd fit in. He'd do well at a team where there were runners for him to pick out - one that plays football on the 'front foot' - i.e. not the abortion of Pardew/Carver/McClaren's team sides and 'tactics'.

  9. If you'd seen him play - every week - for Ajax before he signed for us you would (it's hoped) have a very different opinion of Anita and what he can do. The Ajax team of 2011-12 would, of course, have put six or seven past its NUFC counterpart.
  10. I reckon that was done as a bet.
  11. He's absolute class. Saw him play for Ajax for a year before we signed him. Was first name on the sheet there. Faultless in everything he did (get, give, the odd goal) and I was so excited about our buying him but he's suffered through our management, tactics and constantly being played out of position.
  12. The place is absolutely minging outside, and then inside - well, you know the rest.
  13. He did leave for a team that where in the bottom 3 like, I don't think he was loving it. Aye, it was definitely Mike Ashley that forced him out, not the fanbase that made it perfectly clear how loathed he was. His career was done before we hired him and he's managed to squeeze another 5-10 years out of it through sheer sycophancy, arrogance and cynical PR skills. I admire its purity. A survivor … unclouded by conscience, remorse, or delusions of morality. Class quote.
  14. I think in the current climate the difficulty would be getting the class of player, manager and MD we need to actually come to Newcastle/NE. The Rob Lee/Boro thing is pretty much apocryphal but that was near 25 years ago anyway. Getting world class players onto £200,000/wk deals at Etihad City is tough enough. Even the TWOCers can't keep their best players - five-time EC Champions... We have a geographic problem that will never be solved as long as the EPL exists in its present form. But, taking the long view, football will eat itself. The current situation is untenable. That, in itself, is probably the best chance we have of getting rid of Ashley I suppose.
  15. One way of looking at it, I suppose, but then we're getting into really murky territory where things that are already uncertain become unfathomable. I'd like to see us in the Conference without the fat cunt turd as owner. Set a new world record for 5th tier attendance.
  16. Reluctant to use the idiom, but: 'this'.
  17. Well, they've failed to show up for meetings over there in the past, and there have been rumours recently about asking prices being changed upwards after a sniff of interest, so it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. It's worth bearing in mind that anyone with even the loosest grasp of commercial nous would not let NUFC go. It is, quite simply, a money pot - money for nothing really, as long as we retain our premiership status or even go down again for a season or two. If I was not a supporter, I would certainly not let NUFC go for less than half a billion in cash up front, and this additionally so when we consider that other parts of MASH are performing relatively poorly - some very much so. We're stuck with him. I'd give good money he'll still be the owner in five years' time, more likely ten. p.s. I have of occasion posted that Ashley has had the thick end of half-a-billion in total out of our club in the past 8.5 years, the maths are fairly simple, but one poster in particular has always responded in the vein of: 'you're not still beating that drum, are you?'. I wonder if this poster and his like are maybe beginning to see how badly we are getting screwed and how much money is being taken out of the club annually, in cash, every year. Gold mine. Absolute gold mine - as the club is currently run. I earn more than Charnley FFS.

The latter part of your sentence is an unpleasant one to countenance, but I reluctantly hope for something of this ilk.

  21. No bother. If I can come back with something better then I will of course try to sell the story/give it to Biffa/stick it on here - depending on the circumstances.
  22. No. Nothing more than rumours, albeit I am assured that conversations have taken place. The progress of these discussions? Sad to report that they have progressed far less than anyone who wants rid of the slug might want. i.e., it would be generous to describe any potential deal even as 'putative'. I really wish there were more, but the party who apparently made the bid is, of course, Dubai Royal Family, and I know from personal experience (2006-8 I was business editor of a national daily in the same country - a job that brought more red flags to my desk daily than you'd see at a Komsomol rally) that you need to be very, very careful about what you print - even stuff that's triple sourced and you know to be 100% true. I had to spike dozens of absolutely dynamite economic stories because I'd have ended up in jail/deported/etc. So it literally is a case of this being more than his job's worth. Couple of colleagues of mine lost their jobs over innocuous stories. One got the sack for using the word 'bitch' in a piece. Neither the Editor or the GM wanted to let him go, of course, but phone calls had been received and commandments cast down. I'm sure you're aware that glitzy as it may be, Dubai in general and the UAE in particular is still a banana republic.
  23. Friend/former colleague of mine who used to work at The Sun is now sports editor of one of the UAE papers. There are very strong rumours that someone in Dubai has come in with £300m which Ashley knocked back immediately, saying he wants £1/2 billion. Guy is desperate to be able to stand the story up for obvious reasons - but he can't. Insists that conversations have taken place but no quotes = no story.
  24. Fine with me. At least I'd still have a club to support. I would prefer us to be in league one tbh I wouldn't bother if we were in the Conference if that fat turd was no longer involved. We'd get 40,000 in the fifth tier with a new owner interested in developing the club, and not one like the current incumbent, whose sole interest seems to be stealing hundreds of millions of pounds from the club.
