Heard some pretty interesting stuff tonight with regards the takeover.....Without going into detail, barring a few minor issues, everything is done and the only thing they're waiting for is Ashley. Same as it ever was. -
Of course it was, West Ham fans had given him the same chants a couple of years previously when he was at Spurs, but barely anthing was said about it......also Boro had another Muslim fella playing that day IIRC, and there wasn't a single song aimed at him that day. Not our finest moment admittedly.

That could be the biggest hurdle in all of this. If Kenyon's consortium or another investment group is buying a club as a business interest it has to make financial sense. If due diligence shows the club to be worth £100m less than Ashley is asking, due to the low value of playing staff, poor training facilities, stadium needing updating etc. that isn't a sound investment and a lower offer makes sense. Kenyon could hardly go back to his backers and recommend that they pay £300m for a club that is actually worth £200m. That could've been why Staveley walked away, maybe she was serious after all but pissed Ashley off because she proved he was overpricing the club. She wasn't serious. She was a big a player as Ashley. Sorry, but you're wrong. -

Was told yesterday that there was a load of suits at Benton on Tuesday, was going to post it last night but didn't want to get people's hopes up. 'There's definitely something happening' was about as much as I could glean from him. -

This. Also they were forced into a corner by Michael Martin at True Faith, who has been bad mouthing them behind their backs.....as usual, this prick had his own agenda. They're not perfect but have done some really good stuff, so I'll continue to support them. -
That last period of extra time was crackers!

Granted he doesn't have the best squad to work with, are you seriously saying he should never be criticised if someone thinks he's made a mistake ? Not at all, but a sense of perspective wouldn't go amiss. -
Done. Isn't this where the mackems jump on board and all agree to vote for 1 other individual? Aren't you forgetting some of our own fans who think Rafa is a busted flush/dinosaur/fraud?
-
Agreed, absolutely unforgivable what he did to TMG the selfish cunt.

Interesting. -
Don't know much about him, but his name scans nicely with the 80's Roxy Music classic hit 'Avalon'. Or for those that like their American indie folk, 'Antiphon' by Midlake.

Yep. Also prevents Ashley from blaming fan negativity should a takeover not materialise. People responding to TMG with vitriol doesn't bode well for the future, mind. Correct. It was going to be a pathetic attempt at a boycott, calling off is the best approach. Need to strike while the iron is hot with these things and in the end it all petered out. If another disaster of a window goes by, which it will, form drops and Ashley remains, the appetite will be there again in February. Not calling it in the first place would have been the best option imo. It being called off doesn't look good after its been announced, but it's a good excuse for a face-saving cancellation of it. It's more their integrity that's the worry now because they've essentially pissed off both sides of the boycott debate now. Once there's a genuine appetite for it I'm sure it'll be forgotten though. The Magpie Group needs disbanding now IMO. Their hearts are in the right place but cancelling protests after announcing them means they have lost their credibility. I wouldn't blindly throw my support behind them like I have done in the past. I think they were forced into a corner by True Faith, who were clearly driving their own agenda, just like they did with some of the AO protests. That said, I think it was probably the right decision to postpone, but it's very much damned if they do, damned if they don't. At the end of the day, people can still boycott Wolves, and better still, bin their season tickets......I certainly won't be back at SJP until Ashley has vacated the building.

And I think your opinion is total shite also my original point has and always has been that the broadcast was not because of any January window embargo, protests or any boycotts - your spectrum and my spectrum of thought are miles apart and always have been - these things happen move on. Well that's the good thing about having something to back your opinion up, it doesn't matter whether anyone thinks it's shite or not. Not one thing backed up your opinion - the man is still at the club, still refusing to put anything in and still refusing to go until someone pays the price he is looking for - now they are actual facts that's not opinion. Of course it backed up his opinion, everytime there was a protest or he has been confronted, there has been some kind of reaction from Ashley. Clearly it has not been enough for him to sell, but there has still been a reaction.....he is one of the most thin skinned people in around. For what it's worth, I think he may actually sell this time around, mainly because he needs the money for other ventures.....but the protests have definitely got under his skin, they have in the main changed the media rhetoric against him, and he has nowhere to go this time. -

Very much this. -
This, they were definitely forced into a corner. People can still boycott anyway, they don't need their permission.
-
Can totally get your point but when Caulkin as well as the others come out with stuff verifying it, there's no smoke without fire. Absolutely not having a go at George, but it was him who pushed the Amanda Staveley story last year. Which was true. He saw all three bids. It's the fat cunt shifting the goalposts that messed that one up, only that time he didn't have people going after SD. He didn't really change the goalposts, she came in with a lower offer and they couldn't agree terms after. That's not entirely true, they'd verbally agreed a deal and he rang Sky and dismissed her as a timewaster after a boozy lunch meeting.
-
I get what you're saying, but the walk-in was a flop and has just caused division between fans, far better to postpone this one and go again with far more people on board if/when he fucks up the sale and/or spends nowt in January. Obviously keep up all activities directed at SD in the meantime, as that seems to get right under his skin.

Get in!! -
We were warned this would happen from the Rangers & Liverpool lot mind, they had exactly the same issues.
-
That's the major problem right there, most people want Ashley out, but there are very few prepared to do anything about it.
-
An old classic that never fails to amaze and amuse in equal measures. For those that haven't seen it, may I present the people of Sunderland.

Agreed. It's been depressing reading Twitter in the last day or so, some of our 'fans' absolutely delighted about the Shirebrook fuck up.
