Villa away was a demonstration of needless conservatism from Rafa. We could have gone on to beat them by more but tried to sit off despite Villa being very poor. Lucky to get a draw by the end of it. Think our build up play is also very predictable and teams are managing now to prevent us from penetrating into midfield. Having Mitrovic would offer us great variation and I personally don't think that the extra CM (Diame) is worth it against the likes of Blackburn. Rafa is all about controlling the game, that's fine but in this league i think you can win easily without worrying too much about that. You don't attack recklessly, but control for control sake gives you predictable, slow and rigidness. But he is what he is, it's why he's so successful.

I mean in regard to a tackle, not one for play acting or cheating but as a tackle red that was ridiculous. Just nowt to it other than being slightly late, no studs, no over agression, no endangering an opponent. Rank bad decision.

Sticking religiously to the same tactics is ludicrous. Surley that is obvious. The same tactic that has us the most wins and league goals in the country? That's not the point, you have to be flexible and react if chasing or another team has nullified you. Yes you stick to it for 95% of the time but you must be willing to change for the other 5%. Rafa simply isn't right now and it's costing us a bit.

I'm not going to complain about the performance at all really, we created enough to win comfortably. I will however say Rafa is fucking mental in the head for picking Colback, despite watching what we all see week in week out. Something he should surely have seen himself by now ffs. It's ridiculous to pick him and he's an awful footballer, and i don't think i've seen a player give away so many thick as fuck fouls in my entire life. Rafa deserves all the stick he'll get for picking him. Still not that worried but i wish Rafa would stop over worrying about changing his preferred system every now and again, especially when we need to chase a game or spot when we need a change earlier in a game.
