I’d sooner have NFL at SJP than either code of egg-chasing and the plethora of boot cut jean and tan loafer nonces they bring with them.

Aye. You'll probably be dead before your imagination can come up with a pathetic stereotype that does nothing but reflect your own misery.

Always ben a Man U cunt, condescending to us. But now he's afraid he's showing his true cowardice.

I think it depends where we finish , I think he will stay (though I also think we will finish higher than we thought).  I think we will have this year and next year. If we aren't in the CL by then he will be off, as he probably should be as he is one of the best midfielders in the world IMO.  He just does everything well.

I don't think where we finish matters that much, this season. As long as he's happy at the club. I suspect where we start next season will have a bigger influence on his belief in 'the project'.

If the club remains as as ambitious as it currently is then 52,000 is nowhere near enough.

The market to be exploited is far bigger than 52000, but I'm not sure if bigger crowds improve the atmosphere in any way.

    Such bullshit that it ain't 5-4-0 n'all.

Fucking dimwit commentator going on about things 'evening themselves out' today; comparing the Palace travesty to a routine correct decision this afternoon.

That's what gets my goat with VAR, when they say it worked in our favour because it got a correct decision. It's just another element to be analysed and fill TV time.

I'd rather hear Man United fans sing 'to see Matt Busby's aces' than that version of the Blaydon Races.

Taking the catchy, upbeat tempo out takes it essence out. Its like someone reading a poorly punctuated song. Hoy it.

I always remember it getting steadily faster, but we used to sing it for four choruses. maybe the "want it now" mentality of today's expectant youth, has changed it forever.

You said he’s evolving into the weak link and i was just saying I disagree and giving my reasons why. I think it’s ignorant to say you disagree with someone but not give the reason why you disagree

maybe I meant most replaceable, I dunno. Definitions are changing week to week.

He was poor today imo, very sloppy in his passing and got caught a few times.

There was a moment, early on where he was in a tight defensive position and gave the ball away, that I thought "Targett wouldn't have done that", but thought I was being harsh. Then he did it further up the pitch and I thought "fuck him, get Targett on". The beauty is they're both players that  i love to see in the team sheet.

I absolutely disagree, the lads a rock and I think there is a method in the madness in playing him at left back, as it allows us to switch from a 4 to a 3 quite quickly and almost double up on the other teams forward players.

I've said nothing that contradicts your reasons for disagreement.

What is great to see, is even when our more important players are not there, he has instilled that much confidence in his system, that the back up players are just slotting in and doing their part. He has the whole squad on the same page and they all know exactly what their job is. The organisation is magnificent. He’s a fucking genius.

i think his genius goes beyond his plan. I would have had no problem if Joelinton and Maxi had replaced Longstaff and Murphy, but Howe had the composure to trust in them both.

The heck has this not been bumped, we just taking his excellent performances for granted now? :huff:

Yes. That's where we are now. If Murphy can defy expectations, then living up to them is no longer worthy of comment.

I think it's a Ferris Bueller quote but life moves fast, if you don't stop once in a while to look around, you  miss it.

And yet Murphy has now had 2 very good performances when starting. One swallow doesn't make a summer, but it's a running theme with Howe now that he puts players in and they deliver. It's a very good sign.

I'm delighted with Murphy's performances. I'm just reiterating the fact that sometimes, when you're a well run club, the starting line-u doesn't always dictate the result you would expect.

Give him 200k a week. Worth every penny.

I'm completely mixed on this but that kind of reflects my attitude towards football. No doubt the hungry, but lazy, will offer him that much but will he leave the love of the fans, to which he has the graciousness to credit his form, to double his salary that probably already gives him more than he ever dreamed of.

    :aww:

    Is that the first time?

Love the lad to bits. He's slowly evolving [due to the rapid evolution of the squad] into our weakest link, but fuck me I'm glad we signed him.

  15. 2 hours ago, cubaricho said:

Probably our most underrated signing. I’m so glad we got him. Some partnership between him and Schar.

I don't know if under-rated is what I'd call him, people were calling for him to replace Burn before the season began. I honestly don't particularly notice him when he plays, but when I do it isn't for an error. He certainly seems a quality addition that could be our lynchpin for years to come, but for now, I think, the system is everything and the fact the defence were practically anonymous today, fills me with great hope.

And now you've gotta believe us...

I will never believe it myself, so if it ever happens...? 'kin 'ell.

I know we did [3 times] and he fact my love affair with the club began when we were at that level, being the best of the second best has always turned out to be adequate. But it's not a title to defend.

  17. 6 minutes ago, Rod said:

Rubbish.  We totally controlled that game and although a couple of goals came from errors, we were more than deserving of the 5-1 scoreline.  I even thought their penalty was a bit dodgy.

Exactly! How many times in the last three years have we forced errors in the opposition's penalty box?

  18. 4 minutes ago, Lenny said:

They weren't entirely unforced errors, even if they had a nightmare defensively; there's credit for us to take.

Mee and Ajer are considered two of the best CBs outside the top 6, for ball control, they were both big signings for Brentford [wjen they signed Ajer without us even entering the discussion, it smacked of our lack of ambition]. the fact we put them under the pressure that led to 3 errors is indicativ of where we are.

  19. 8 minutes ago, Kid Icarus said:

Howe is everything I've ever wanted in a Newcastle manager tbh, I couldn't be happier with the job he's done and is doing.

There's nothing I need to overlook if that makes sense? For example with Rafa I had to overlook the style of football (not fully his fault obviously), but with Howe, at least at the moment, he's ticking all of the boxes for me.

In fairness, I do need to overlook the selection of Murphy, but that's the best thing for me. We don't have the squad of Man City or Liverpool, but we're already getting more than the sum of or parts.

As much as I love Maxi and want to spend every waking moment watching him produce magic, I#'ll be happy seeing Murphy take his place in the line-u against Man U next week.

If that doesn't tell you all you need to know about Howe, then nothing ever will and you'll be forever wanting

Another match that felt alien but in a great way.

You look at the score and you think it's a thrashing, but Brentford weren't bad at all imo and we weren't in top gear. That's not arrogance or a backhanded compliment, or saying the scoreline flattered us or anything either, it was just one of those matches.

We played really well and deserved to win, the way we press and dominate possession is a joy to behold and puts much less pressure on us to make the right pass and take chances because we're so good at winning the ball back that you know it's in us to go time and again.

I love the way we play, I think I can see what Howe has in mind for us and it's exactly my type of football. Love it.

Agree. It's as though Howe is the first to recognise how to beat the modern game [which DIES sound arrogant[. I just struggle to balance this with where we were a year ago.

When last season concluded, I didn't think for a moment we could continue our form from the second half of last season. Like others, I thought we needed 11 new players to maintain our credibility [if not points] but we've actually built upon it.
