  1. "It's always a tragedy when you lose somebody that dedicated their life to others."
  2. Newcastle United Football Club is the lifeblood of Newcastle upon Tyne. Sports Direct is the lifeblood of Mike Ashley. He started it I say we finish it. Any efforts should be directed at SD, make it so nobody wants to be involved with him in any business sense. No effort should be wasted arguing amongst ourselves.
  3. This is the thing. It's so hard to not just scream in people's faces but it'll do nothing. I'm not totally convinced the effort needed to convince people is worth it either, it's proper draining at times. I think arguing with people online is definitely tiring and frustrating. People hold their positions much more resolutely online. Maybe Plenum is right and we need a more simple approach, posters in local shops would be a constant presence and a symbol that the community is behind the movement. I think we'd need to be careful of dragging the online discourse into the realm of public reality, by not screaming in peoples faces, and maybe keeping it to anti Ashley posters, rather than the more divisive issue of boycott.
  4. I really do think at times our fanbase is a lost cause tbh and will happily have shit sprayed in their face and they would still turn up. They'd bring their own tissues too. The club could turn it into a competition where only one person gets shit on, and they'd all be "Me!Me!Me!" Half time entertainment "the crap cannon" like t-shirt cannons, "the diarrhoea distributor", water cannons. It'll be like Ibiza, man.
  5. Though I agree with the article to a point I don't think it has helped those sitting on the fence in 2 minds to boycott or not. People don't want to be told what to do and told they are part of the problem and will now go out of spite. Hopefully these flyers that are given out before the Watford game help to pull people back towards boycotting. To be honest the main thing that's going to decide how many boycott is how many games we win or lose between now or then. If we go on a 3 game winning run everything will be rosy again for most supporters and they will turn up. Couldn't give two fucks for that kind of person, personally.
  6. "There's no point voting for Corbyn because he won't win."
  7. I would imagine the advertising is worth more than that which would be paid to advertise.
  8. Wish I'd known he was looking to buy a football club and make them champions, when I was serving him his lunch, every other Saturday.
  9. Imagine losing your husband and daughter, then receiving an email from Ashley advising you how to deal with it.
  10. OMG! I hope everybody is okay. I used to take care of their executive box at stamford brisge. Love the wife. She would ask me what the score would be and put a bet on then we'd share the winnings.
  11. If they just said one of them it would be bad enough, it's when they say them both in the same fucking sentence without making the obvious connection that grinds my shite.
  12. We'll get a penalty, Southampton will have a player sent off, and it will be 42 in the shade at full time.
  13. I know that. Do the beeb have any duty of impartiality on matters such as this? I was just thinking it's great that Shearer can speak freely through the beeb, but then I wonder if they then have to present the opposing side.
  14. Or very good at bias and propaganda. Funny how propaganda actually sounds like deep research.
  15. Wound me up straight away. How anybody in the media can say "he loaned them £144m and cleared the debt of £76M" without even thinking about how fucking idiotic that is...
  16. I'll be surprised if Rafa knows his budget on the last day of the month.
  17. Fucking hell. £100k wouldn't get you Brian Kilcline in 1992.
  18. Every year people complain, and question Rafa's early season team selections. And every year he is vindicated.
  19. Supporting this club is tantamount to punishment. Paying for the privilege is Frank Bough levels of stupid.
  20. what about people who take their kids to the match? not going to take a 9 year old in a jam packed pub. Report them to social services.
  21. Absolute horseshit. I do think, however that his influence might not be having the positive impact that his attributes should provide. When players are lacking confidence, he can probably compound things. Just another symptom of Ashley's ownership, and in no way a slur on Ritchie.
  22. That bloke behind Kenedy's effort runs him a close second.

I had a feeling Wembley was in the wrong hands, the first time I worked there. First play-off semi at new Wembley. Derby v West Brom, I think. Anyway I was working in a restaurant with 6000 guests. We put 6 bottles of wine on each of the 600 tables and open the doors. Within about 2 mins we have two queues at the bar, approx. 4-5000 men wanting pints of lager, and TWO Carlsberg pumps.
