Various: Mike Ashley in talks with Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan
Happinesstan replied to Kaizero's topic in Football
He pisses that many people off in business, never mind NUFC fans. Sky seem to love him. I mean, who in all honesty isn't going to watch the matches on sky if they decide to stay away? -
There isn't a direct link between value and quality though. Value is determined by many contributing factors, the main one being how productive a player is, in their current system. No way Mitro is worth £27m if he spends the 2nd half of last season struggling to adapt to Rafa's game.

Transfer fees have been spiralling out of control since the TV money started infiltrating the game. TV money meant that smaller clubs were no longer dependant on transfers to survive, meaning they could resist advances for longer, forcing the bigger clubs to go that bit further in order to get the headline signings. In 1979 the most a British club had paid was £1.2m, for Trevor Francis. 2 years later that jumped to a massive £1.5m. By 1992 that had doubled to £3m, with the introduction of Skysports. it was 3 years before it was doubled again, Cole £7m, then 6 months before it doubled again, Shearer £15m. This growth has since slowed down, but the overriding effect of each new record is the impact on the values of all the other average players.

I thought that. Could be the camera angle but he looks like a baked crisp packet.

Can't see fat cunt rejecting £35M+ for a bit of good PR. -
"We don't shop at Sports Direct" fits Yellow Submarine. Too hippy dippy, need some raw aggression. Sigue sigue sputnik's love missile; Multi-billion fat fuckaire stripping our club until it's bare Shoot him up, Shoot him up.

Looking at Graham & Brown catalogues.

It's going to be a weird end of season if Rafa still hasn't signed an extension. Same situation as going into the Spurs game in our relegation season, but possibly an entirely different atmosphere. I know I'll want him to stay, but I don't think I'll be voicing it too loudly. Maybe a song from Sting, to mark the occasion.
-
I agree, no club would do that. Far more believable that somebody would make it up. Imbecillic.
-
Mitro was similar to Billy Whitehurst at times. Built like a brick shithouse. And moves as fast.
-
Instead of telling us why we're puzzled, why don't you do some fucking journalism and put those questions to the people with the answers? Cretin.
-
Fucking love Rafa. He is well within his rights to walk away, and he likely will, but he isn't prepared to leave us in the shit.
-
Complicit in every level of deceit. Even Douglas fails to point out the obvious.
-
I was sure that was Paw Broon, like.
-
No. Charnley just misheard Rafa when he said, I want a b or c but I expect you to get me someone random.

Florian Lejeune (now playing for Rayo Vallecano)

A leader,to step in should Lascelles need a rest, would be good. As long as he is playing I'm comfortable with Schar or Clark covering Lejeune's absence, but if we lose Lascelles it would be a disaster. -
Maybe Peres gives them that option.

It's probably the only reason we're looking at ANOTHER central defender. -

Candy was brilliant in JFK, too. -
£22M is a good price. Well done fat cunt.
-
It might have been the previous season.
-
Did he not play a big part in our 5th place season. Seem to remember we had a great defensive record while he was in the team. Might just be relative to how good we were with Saylor in the team, like.
-
Despite his abject failure to provide any evidence, he's probably a decent keeper, Rafa must have saw something in him to pay 5-6m. Probably just shit his pants playing in front of 52000 mental geordies. Dubravka has that personality required to take the occasion by the scruff of the neck.

I fully expect Manquillo to be a better player this season, and may even turn out to be adequate cover for Yedlin. I'd like to see better than Yedlin, but hopefully he has improved also. Happy with Dummett on the left, kind of reliable. But we could do with somebody a little more exciting, just for an extra option. Clark is probably a similar type of LB to dummett so will provide suitable coverage for his specific role, but somebody regularly overlapping Kenedy would be brilliant (provided they can cross a ball.
