  1. by your own fucking logic this obviously won't be the case can't understand the mentality and lack of understanding of where we are as a club - ok if we get taken over we might be in a position to splash £40m on a 23/24 year old striker...as it is we have a 23/24 year old striker our manager doesn't want and a 29 year old striker that he might our owner remains mike ashley, if you offered me the chance to swap mitro for slimani tomorrow with rafa as manager i'd take it without batting an eyelid, then when he's 32 years old and presumably no longer able to walk because of how old he is, we can reassess where we are Why wait until then to re-assess when it's quite clear, right now, where we'd be. Up shit creek without a striker and a market that demands more than it does today.
  2. This and it's because of years of underinvestment across the club not just on the pitch. The way an investor has to or should look at it is if they bought the club for 400m, it’s alwas going to be worth that if they run it well and worth more if they succeed. Ashley bought the club knowing he would never be out of pocket or rather never make a loss. Yes it’s a lot of money, but you are buying something that can become one of the top clubs in Europe. A club that is already one of the top clubs when it comes to stadia, gates, fan base, and yes revenue. Albeit that is somewhat skewered due to the huge TV deal here in the PL. Its worth 400m if this is to be a long term thing and it doesn’t need huge huge amounts of money thrown at it. 10m would fix the facilities issue. Good scouts and coaching is what fixes the development of the academy/reserves/development. Rafa can fix that alone by being ale to bring in his own people. The first team of course is where the biggest injection of money is needed. But if year one of takeover is about stability and consolidation, just getting Kennedy, the ‘keeper and Slimani in should see to that with Rafa as manager. Look at what has been spent at City, what a billion pounds or more in total? Do that here including purchase of club and we would be top 4 and winning silverware. Howay man HTT, you know full well the club hasn't been "run well" for over a decade. Commercial and matchday income has gone down, debt has doubled, there has been precious little investment in its facilities and the stature of the club as a whole has gone down from being regular European contenders to regular relegation fodder. Then there is the question of what would happen to the 129m debt after any takeover and whether it would be included in these valuations, but presumably the new owners would have to cough up or refinance it as well. Saying the club is worth what Ashley asks if run well is like someone putting their depricated house on the market for what it could be worth after renovation. As others have said, if the club is worth that much where are the buyers? Of course Ashley sets his price as he is entitled to do, but by setting a price nobody sees as near to the club's true value it makes it abundantly clear that he's not a willing seller at all. We've been here before, sadly. It's pretty obvious that's not what he said. Just read the bit you bolded.
  3. you're insane dude slimani is probably still in the peak of his career, is there anything to suggest the injury he got is anything but a freak? as i was saying to stan the other day people need to get themselves into the real world - given our current status if we could sell mitro and use the money to bring slimani in it would be a good thing...who cares if we only get 2 seasons if he's banging in goals for those two seasons and we progress as a team/club? fwiw didn't everton just pay £27m for that cenk tosun lad? looks no better than slimani to me Yeah. £27million for a 26 year old. 2 good seasons and he'll be a £50-60 million player. 2 good seasons from Slimani and we'll be looking to get him off the wage bill. Why do you think Chelsea only gave Giroud an 18 month contract?
  4. Why does the game need that? So all right-minded people can fuck the whole thing off and go do something productive. That's better than any answer I could offer.
  5. It's got to be time for a world club league, and I've got some thoughts on how it might work. I've no doubt many will disagree, but it's an interesting topic as it's surely the next step that the game needs. So.. The world club championship, would consist of the league champions of the 20 highest ranked nations, at the time. And those teams would be removed from their national league for one season, to be replaced the following year by their sucessors, on the proviso that their nation is still in the top 20. It could maybe be extended to four leagues, with playoffs to decide the ultimate world champion.
  6. Bony is wank, and Giroud was by no means a reluctant sale. Leicester paid £30m for Slimani on the back of the title and when they had cash to burn. He's probably worth closer to £20m now, which is more than Giroud, but that was a deflated fee. I still think we'll get around the same for Mitro, but if Mitro keeps playing like this, then he could be nudging £25m and upwards. I'm not debating Bony's quality, just the comparable evaluations. When has Slimani demonstrated he is worth more than Bony?
  7. What's that? He's dropped in quality as he's got older, and wasted 2 seasons on the bench at a better club? Interesting. *edit: proven wasn't the word I was looking for, just that they've been there long enough to demonstrate what they are capable of.
  8. this is what i'm trying to say, i mean given unlimited funds i'm sure rafa would like a player who is world class at 21 and keep him for 8 years winning every trophy going but given the circumstances i'm sure he's looking at our single-figure PL strikerforce and then looking at slimani thinking even if he only gets 2 good season out of him at +/-15 goals then by the end of that 2 seasons we'll be in a much better place and won't be giving a fuck about the fee we paid and recouping it etc. football is incredibly transitory now If Rafa had unlimited funds, he could pay the asking price for Slimani and get Neymar in two years as his replacement. The whole point is Rafa doesn't have unlimited funds. Anyway, just a couple of other comparable transfers: Wilfried Bony £13 mill. Olivier Giroud 17million. Both are proven premiership players. At what point has Slimani demonstrated he is worth both of them?
  9. If we spend more than half of the Mitro money on Slimani, that would be a bad deal. We'll be lucky to get 2 seasons out of Slimani. If we sell Mitro e need to be getting Slimani and his back up. If you genuinely believe that, then I see disappointment in your future. They will go for similar fees. They paid £30m for him, and they’ll want a big chunk of that back. We’ll only get more for Mitrovic if he is on fire for Serbia at the World Cup. My hopes are that Mitrovic raises enough to pay for Kenedy, but I’m not confident. If you genuinely believe a 30 year old with 8 premiership goals in 35 games is as valuable as a 23 year old with 10 in 40, then I don't care what you think. FFS They'll get 5 years out of Mitrovic and still get their money back. We'll get 2 seasons (at best) out of Slimani and end up releasing him for free. I bought a cheese sarnie for a quid in 1984, but didn't get around to eating it. Do you fancy buying it for 75p? It's still in the wrapper and everything.
  10. This is my concern, especially if Southgate is pressured into taking him by the media. I can see him being isolated which may bring back some of his daemons. I don’t think he’s an actual phsychopath yee kna I'm not saying he is. I just don't think he'd enjoy it if he was there, but wasn't involved.

  13. A year ago Lascelles was 23 and Shawcross 29. Same ages as Mitro and Slimani. Hmm. If only Mitro had listened to Rafa.
  14. I don't think we'll sign him. It depends how long Rafa thinks he has left at the top. 2 years ago you could happily say 3-4 years, maybe now it's 1-2. I think Rafa will probably have another, younger target lined up as top target.
  15. You're a brave man to admit that in here.
  16. how's that? he was rafa's first choice the summer we went down (had we stayed up) right Was he? Oh well then, sign him up.
  17. Looked good. Still too early to say with any real conviction. But since he wasn't Rafa's first choice in January, I would be looking to secure his first choice. Whoever that may be.
  18. Every step of the way he has worked his magic. It is no longer enough to say he has done a good job with this bunch of lads. He has turned this bunch of lads into a unit, worthy of it's position.
  19. My favourite bit of the game was when he had the ball and the crowd shouted "MAN ON!". Feels like I haven't heard that in decades.
  20. Is the greatest ever addition to football "the Modelo gold half-time stat"?
  21. Quality goal. Came at a good time as they were starting to dominate.
  22. Every goal increases his value and pretty soon Fulham won't be able to afford him. He's desperate to stay at the toon.
  23. Well it didn't exactly end well did it How not? He's playing in the prem, for Rafa. Most people would cut off their left nut with a rusted tin can for that.
  24. "5 years old, chopping some wood with a machete". Ha. in this country 5 year olds can't be trusted with plastic scissors.
  25. It was all looking really positive until he mentioned needing a rest. He's only played for 2 months ffs.
