  1. From the highlights i've seen he looked very dangerous. And he got us the win with that bit of vision and ability that we will need in the absence of Gayle. Maybe an option up top, and maybe more effective as a no10 with Murphy up top to aim at. Maybe in the face of the current adversity we will develop a better understanding of our options for plan B.
  2. a fantastic 3 points. Haven't seen the whole game, but to adjust to those injuries and win the game after being pegged back suggests a team spirit that has seemed absent recently. Enforced substitutions were more effective than Rafa's usual attempts. Not having a go at him, I just find it funny. I imagine it is completely coincidental, and we will now go on a bit of a streak. Shelvey to destroy Brum midweek. Come on Toons.
  3. While we're top of the league as well Strictly speaking, we are top of the division. there are 20 teams above us, in the league. Strictly speaking, you're a rectangle. Looking forward to Champions League football next season? No.
  4. Probably. And probably done without Rafa's knowledge. But Benitez only has a 3 year contract, so the club are well within their rights to purchase players, with a view to developing them beyond that point. I doubt Rafa would have a problem with that.
  5. Wasn't part of the reason KK left because we sold Milner for payment in installments and KK wasn't allowed to spend the money to replace him?
  6. The only thing I need to understand is that Ashley owns the club.
  7. We haven't got the money to sign him. How do you know? Simple mathematics. We made £30M in profit, we sold Sissoko for £30M, they are paying over 5 years, so we have £6M in the bank. Guess someone doesn't know the difference between a SoCI, a SoFP and a SoCF. Couldn't give a fuck. The fact is we are waiting on £24M of our £30M profit. Ashley isn't going to spend it until he gets it.
  8. While we're top of the league as well Strictly speaking, we are top of the division. there are 20 teams above us, in the league. Strictly speaking, the Premier League is a different entity than the Championship. No that is an actual reality.

  11. Probably just some tight fuck who spotted he could win an extra tenner if he backed us to go up through the play-offs.
  12. I agree, i understand he's well past his sell by date but surely he'd have enough quality to help us get promoted with Gayle in front of him and Shelvey behind him? Not a chance Rafa would go for that. Not enough defenders. After all he played 4 fullbacks v Brum. And Dummett wasn't one of them.
  13. Never been a fan of Downing, but I seem to remember him doing well at some point. Never impressed me for england, but by that point I wasn't impressed with England. If Rafa was to consider him capable of contributing to our promotion, then I'd happily welcome him on loan. With a priority placed on filling that position in the summer. My attitude is the same towards replacing Colback. I'd love it if we got 2 players who are primed for the Premiership, but I'd hate it if we got the next Ben Arfa and some nugget lump of a Championship centre half put him out for 16 months.
  14. The replay is a good opportunity for Shelvey to sharpen up for the league.
  15. After. Brentford was due to be on Monday, with replays on the Tuesday/Wednesday or whatever. All it means is the game's been pushed back to Saturday. Really not a hard concept to grasp. Brought forward. Pushed back to it's original Saturday slot, before it was moved for Sky. Canny.

  17. As terrible as he is, he's about 10 trillion times better than Jack Colback so if it means that little skidmark doesn't play again, i'd take Cleverley (on loan) Anyone's better than Colback, we need another measure than just being better than him. Premier League quality should be the starting point. It might be the case that we can't sign anyone who fits that bill in this window though. I agree that in an ideal world we'd sign someone s***-hot but we're in the Championship and it's the notoriously tricky January transfer window. Better than Colback might just have to do for now. As long as it's not a loan with an option to buy i'm ok with it Less of a liability is enough to fit the bill, anything better than that is an added bonus.
  18. Could this be the game that Rafa tries Gayle and Mitro together? He did say he wanted to try it and we have limited options in midfield.
  19. Given that he will be available to start the very next game, it is perfectly reasonable to answer the question I was responding to. But still, if you need the pat on the back, then you pat yourself on the back.
  20. Based on my own opinion of him, no. But then my opinion is based on the last time I saw him 2 years ago. If Rafa picks him then It will be based on seeing him some time over the last few days.
