In an ideal world we'd buy all three. So whilst I understand the disappointment of not getting Diay and Maddison, that's what it is. It's not disappointment at getting Pedro.

Ignore the point in order to have a dig. We're talking about Pedro. I'm referring to the fact that we need somebody getting into that position to make the most of Bruno's obvious understanding with Almiron. Everytime Almiron has got into that position he's got one player to aim for, and that same oplayer is the only one the defence need to worry about. Messi would struggle to get assists at the moment. Fair enough, it's Maxi with the pass and he does pull it back onto his left, but the ball is there. Where is the player? https://youtu.be/qBxXbugN9EI

Playing too high if you ask me. He's playing Shelvey's role. Willock is the man who needs to be getting into the box.
-
It should be obvious that he's not talking about you then. .

first video, about 2 mins in is Bruno to Almiron to Pedro. GOAL

3 weeks ago Howe said he hoped to get 2/3 more in 2 weeks ago Howe said he was hoping to get 1 or 2 additions 1 week ago Howe said hopefully we'll be able to get another one Pardew levels of bullshit. /s

So making mistakes isn't necessarily amateurish.

Every player that was already at the club has improved by virtue of the huge improvement on Bruce. Jury's still out on whether he has improved any of his signings.
-
This is the key. They appeared willing to let him bring the ball into the middle before pressing him from behind. Mind I missed most of the second half so couldn't be sure. It could have backfired for them if he'd had a better game, but they hit him like that early on, so might have affected his composure. Certainly something to watch out for.

Qualifying for Europe would open doors to bigger sponsorship deals, allowing us to at least try to deal with those issues. It's really only a problem for clubs like Stoke.
-
In fairness we made a lot of luck for ourselves over those twenty games, and everything was set up for that. we've lost a bit of the excitement that contributed to that perfect environment, and will struggle more, this season if we don't get a bit more certainty in attack. We could end up seeing more Chelsea/Evertons than Leicesters.
-
We lack quality in attack and depth in midfield.
-
An indirect free-kick seems little punishment for preventing a certain goal.
-
We need another midfielder so Bruno can focus on one position and one set of duties. Right now we're too dependent on his ability to create. We also need anther forward to push Wilson, never mind cover his injuries. He has looked a bit half-arsed in the first two games, despite his fabulous goal.

Brighton & Hove Albion 0-0 Newcastle United (13/08/2022)

If we had a good window, we can over take them in 2 windows. Not 2.5 years ahead at all. what's 2.5 years minus anything? Not 2.5 years. Edited to add: Once the improvements to our training facilities are complete we might catch up to Brighton in terms of our facilities not discouraging the talent. -
Dad banter, more like.

When was the last time we got close to a £50million fee for one of our players? I think that's a better metric of where we've been, in comparison. -

Seems they wanted an excuse to say Nick Pope as many times as they could, for some reason. -

Do you honestly think we just need to spend a load of money on players and we'll get there? If so, then maybe getting the bloke responsible for not signing anybody over £20 million was a wrong choice. Our training facilities were about ten years behind PL standard, they're still working on those improvements. Although Howe tried to downplay it, it's undeniable that the ongoing work will impact the process. -

We're aiming higher, but they've got a 2.5 year headstart, of which we've maybe made up 6 months. -

since being promoted alongside ourselves, Brighton have been actively improving, whilst we sat in a pool of stagnant kebab grease for 2.5 years. Have Brighton qualified for europe, yet? -

Ideally it would have been Anderson coming on, and whilst I didn't see much of the second half, what I did see was us under a lot of pressure. Probably not the game for him. Happy with the point. -

This game was always that. Both teams equally capable of winning, and losing. -

not right to single players out. Nobody has had a great game. Brighton are doing a good job applying pressure. Maxi will be given more creative freedom in the second half.
