I wasn't talking about their longevity though, and it was a perfect example of what I WAS talking about. Owen might hve been finished at 25-26 but you can't say he hadn't fulfilled is potential at that time. And tbf you don't say that.
-
We need somebody who can add to what we have on a permanent basis.
-
I was responding to the direct comparison to Wilson, but he did play the RWF role in Jones' system so I'm willing to see that as a possibility.
-
Yeah. I did mean to add that I wasn't judging his quality on Youtube video footage. Simply what kind of player he was.
-
Actually Owen is a good example to cite. His goal against Argentina is a perfect example of using his natural gift of speed, but having the composure to slow it down when the control is needed.
-
Aye. 35M for a player we don't need unless Wilson gets injured sounds a bit pointless. Certainly wouldn't have helped us break down Forest any quicker.
-
I didn't really watch his highlights, tbh. EDIT Actually I did. Looked more like a Cabaye, dictating from the middle, than a Lee, who was at his best in and around the box.
-
Expecting Rob Lee would have been a bit much mind. The guy was here for 10 years. Made himself a club legend. Now? It looks like we might have got exactly that. Similar circumstances and Howe told him that the flights to Newcastle were actually quicker than flights to London, because you spend less time circling.
-
Yeah, I've heard of him though.
-
I think the thing with players like Dyer, Alli and numerous others that don't spring instantly to mind, is the arrogance. They know they're good, but they also know they're not as good as they pretend to be. Nothing wrong with that, in particular, but some people just don't have the self-discipline to fulfil their potential.
-
Are you saying it would be a Wise signing?
-
I was hoping for Cabaye, but he's like Cabaye AND Tiote.
-
The fact i's come out of nowhere, and they say it will happen in the next few hours [very little mileage if it's untrue], means I want it to happen. But I haven't a clue about him.
-
Much better teams won't do that, though*. I do agree, however, that we need to be more incisive in the opposition box. Most of our goals, since Howe took control, have either been crackers, or a little bit fortuitous. I don't think we can improve much on Wilson, and it's more a case of needing extra bodies in the box [I expected more from Willock, tbh] or somebody who can crack one in from outside the box, like Maddison. * Obviously the top teams can do that, if we go a goal behind, and they might destroy us as we go in search of the equaliser, but I'm not worried about the top 6 this season.
-
I started to think that profile might change, if we can't get long term improvements we might end up going for somebody who just improves us for this season. But I'm not sure. Obviously a transfer would excite the fans, but I think I'd rather go with what we have, than sign some temp who isn't invested, or knows they're not staying. That said, if we can get any loans with a similar attitude to Targett, I'd snap your hands off.

Brighton vs. Newcastle United: 13/08/22 @ 3PM (No UK TV)

I guess it's a bit like the hatred for Peter Reid that some of our fans still find appropriate. -
me too. I think we should stick with what we're doing. If we beat or draw with Brighton I'd happily go with the same team against Man City. Give Burn and Schar the opportunity to show they're up to it, then 3 days later give Botman the chance to match them in the cup.

If the vaginal discharge was still here this fixture wouldn't exist. -
Does he have to turn it into an attack on another player? I'm not clicking on the bait so I acknowledge the content might not match the title.
-
Could drop Targett or Almiron, Schar Botman Burn Trippier Bruno Joelnton Targett/Almiron Maddison Wilson ASM
-
Thing is, every time he got onto the end of Bruno's through balls, everybody else seemed too slow to react. I think Wilson actually acknowledged this in is post-match interview. Fair enough Wilson was marked by 2 CBs and he got his goal by rectifying it, but Willock should have been taking at least one of them away. watching his goal, the attack is a bit slower and the short pass to Joelinton draws the CB out to allow Wilson the opportunity to get in at the near post.

He should have been a much bigger presence in the box, on saturday. -

I've said it a few times, but there is nobody at the club now that deserves anything less than our 100% support. -
Fair play to him. Be interesting to see if he's taken a pay cut. I mean, after 2 years on that salary he can afford it. Would like to see more players do that, accept they got lucky with a contract then come back to [relative] reality.

We'll definitely be going there to get a win, but Brighton will be looking for the win as well. It's a good test after Forest and before City.
