  1. Got to remember where we were 7 months ago. If we can consolidate in the 8-10 spots, next season, we'll be doing grand. Anything above that is a bonus.
  2. We've conceded 1 goal in 360 minutes, since Spurs. and we've never conceded more than one goal since December. Obviously if anybody can tear us apart it's Liverpool, but to be worrying about capitulating seems weird. We've every reason to go into this game with confidence.
  3. Good read that. Already cherishing him. Never wanted somebody to succeed so much, nobody deserves it more.
  4. Shite. But can't say I'm surprised given the starting line-up.
  5. He played a much bigger part in the team performance today. And the result reflects that. if he can stay happy doing that then he'll be good going forward. I still think he just needs an early goal to relax him and we'll see his best 90 mins yet. Going forward I would expect more of the same. He can be invaluable, in an "attack is the best form of defence" way, keeping the ball away from the opposition.
  6. Two very different finishes today, both executed perfectly. Incredible that he finds his shooting boots at the very time it was required. Don't think you can credit anybody with that, but it's one of those things that just happens when everything else is right.
  7. I thought it was 'go on to the brandonship'/
  8. Scored a cracker in a Rumbelows Cup game IIRC
  9. Evolution not revolution. Every thread is full of praise for a player before "needs to be moved on in summer". There really aren't that many that "need to be moved on" in my opinion. 2/3 quality additions in the summer will be enough to take us to the level required next season. Compliment that with some young potential that don';t need registered and we'll be fine.
  10. Some would say we could rest Joelinton to produce a similar effect.
  11. If Maxi can get an early goal to settle himself, we'll go on to destroy these.
  12. Didn't we get a draw v Man U with ASM up front on his own? Scored early on as well. I think he could have a field day today. 0-3 Maxi hat-trick.
  13. 7 months ago, i didn't give a shit for football. An international week would leave me in danger of forgetting football forever. Now I'm sat here with this forum on one screen, the match on another, and the text updates for the Gas' match on a third. And it's not even 1.30.
  14. We can speculate about what we might have done with a different forward, but we know what we've done with Wood and it's more than adequate.
  15. I actually thought he was better with Murphy or Frasier in front of him. He was a constant threat. He did tire quicker, which led to him playing a couple of stray passes, late on. If he and ASM can work it out it will be great for both of them.
  16. He rarely wastes the ball. That's good enough for me.
  17. I didn't say he was the most influential, I said the most important.
  18. It's not not so much about Wood's movement, more the game-plan to pump balls into him. It forced Watford to focus on the centre and allowed ASM a bit more freedom.
  19. I agree. I just think the timing was vital. We lose against Watford and Leeds and Trippier has nothing to inspire others with.
