Yes, we do agree on that. As I said, I imagine we were doing it reluctantly, but Eddie obviously decided that was something we had to do to mitigate the risk of someone like Kraft (as well as he did when called upon) potentially having to be first choice CB for months. Also, given we’d have had a year to sell to recoup the outlay, I doubt we identified one particular player as ‘the one’ that would be sold. A lot can change in a year, for example, selling Gordon a year ago seemed hugely unpalatable, and whilst I still wouldn’t want it to happen, it doesn’t seem as unrealistic as it did then. Basically, I just can’t get on board with the idea that the whole Guehi saga was actually a mass cloak and dagger ruse, that both clubs were in on, in order to create a certain narrative with both sets of fans.

That’s some serious conspiracy theorising. Believing we’ve gone back to the Ashley days of ‘fake bids’. Surely it’s more feasible that we/Eddie believed (with good reason) that we were taking a massive risk not bringing another CB in, so we were reluctantly prepared to bring one in, in the knowledge that to pay for it down the line we’d have to sell someone of relative significance. As it was, we couldn’t get the deal done and we ultimately decided to risk bringing no one in, which we got away with by Schar and Burn staying fit for virtually the entire season.

You don’t need a membership for that, just an account with a supporter number.

That’s basically it, along with the accompanying discussion on the SSN Transfer thing. I wouldn’t say that tweet was touting Isak mind, it said we don’t want to sell, and want another striker regardless.

So when Parish was coming out on TalkSport and wherever else, grandstanding about how much we were going to have to up our bid, that was what? All made up? Done as a favour to us, so we could look like we were attempting to buy someone, when we actually weren’t?

Without wanting to derail the thread into some kind of nonce-a-thon, he was 18 and she was 15, and the legal age of consent in Brazil is 14. Those are the facts, I’m sure there’s a more appropriate place to discuss the moral aspects. *and I don’t believe he was meeting her in secret behind a Chinese takeaway.

Would imagine that will be at the end of the month.

You genuinely think we pissed about all that time with Guehi, with no intention of signing him?
-
If they want £100m, we’re having a very short conversation, followed by putting a big red line through his name.
-
That might be the story, and if it is, I probably agree with you. But if the story is the manager wants rid cos his behaviour and general demeanour went downhill last season, that puts a different slant on it.
-
Can’t see either. I know we looked at Franca before he went to Palace, but he’s largely been a total flop so far (maybe not entirely his fault). Wharton would just be prohibitively expensive.

They need a better system then. You could be using multiple devices, across multiple locations, perfectly legitimately.
-
He has to be careful though. It seems like the kind of industry where reputation is everything. If he was to toss it off, word would get out and probably negatively effect his chances of future jobs.
-
I wouldn’t mind paying more than they did, as he’s more proven than he was back then. Double, or thereabouts, would seem very steep though.
-
Depends if we’re effectively sacking him as opposed to another team coming in for him.
-
They’re going to push for the most they can get, but if it is a case that they genuinely want shot, it’s probably a position they can be negotiated down from.

Burn, Cucurella, White, Gyokeres, Trossard, Gross.

Kelleher was one year left and Flekken’s 31.
-
Given the thread already exists, surely it’s better to filter it out into the specified space that already exists? Yes, you don’t want a thread for every single player linked, but there’s obviously a bit more to this given we were pretty close to signing him at one point.

Sky are reporting it: https://youtu.be/huJdrZlqJbE?si=KAcZ1yKAPZyjx7Wo (yes, it is extremely speculative, but still)
-
Probably, but you do wonder how bad that fall out was after the red card against Brentford and the subsequent fight with Van Hecke? Has his relationship completely broken down with the manager, and they’ve decided they need to get rid, or he’s decided he wants out? Wishful thinking probably, but you never know.

That was the game where Henry knocked it past Steve Watson then practically ran on the running track on the outside of the pitch and still got there first.
