Champions League 2023/2024: Group F (Newcastle, Milan, Dortmund, PSG)

When they do the draw -
It’s their Academy production that’s helping them out tremendously. Selling Grealish and the kid whose name I’m not gonna try and spell, for fortunes, is massive for FFP, whilst also bringing through another PL quality player in Ramsey. If you look back at almost every Dan Ashworth interview since he joined, he mentions how critically important it is to get the academy up to standard and producing for us. We might actually have got lucky in getting a couple through already in Anderson and Miley (?) but we need it to become a regular occurrence.

For CL 24/25, it’s based on what happens in 23/24 season. So you could get a scenario where the result of the CL final is critical to which countries have the two best coefficients, meaning the domestic season is done, you’ve finished 5th, but you won’t know for a week or two whether you’ve made CL.
-
Given they’re only using a one year coefficient to determine who gets the extra places, I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s nailed on. It wouldn’t take that much of a poor season for our teams to perform slightly less well overall than the Italian and Spanish teams. Having said that, history dictates it’ll almost certainly be two out of England, Italy and Spain, so you’d take those odds.
-
Shearer’s 283 isn’t a top flight record though, so in some ways it’s fairly irrelevant. Obviously for headline purposes, PL is all that matters.
-
He’s always had a very, very good team running his socials. They were active (and relatively humorous) when he was our main man, and had the sense to be a bit less active as he was going through more difficult times. That’s not to say this ‘goodbye’ message is insincere or anything, but it’s still worth realising he hasn’t knocked this up himself.
-
We’re virtually always going have to sell someone, just about everyone does to some extent. The key is to get to the position Man City are in where they can shift the likes of a Sterling or a Jesus, and the squad is that good they replace them almost seamlessly.

TopFour(orFive)ometer from this season onwards
-
Bit how is that different to last season? There was nothing stopping people who didn’t want to sing buying tickets in the Gallowgate or wherever?
-
Only in EFL L1 and L2 I think
-
It’s interesting that this is the general consensus towards Lewis yet everybody seems to despise Hendrick ? If anything Hendrick has contributed more (alright it’s very, very little v nothing in that particular argument) and wages seem roughly the same, but Lewis actually cost reasonable money as opposed to being free.

Someone (probably @Paullow) is gonna have to explain to me how we end up getting six teams qualifying , from what’s left of the qualifying phase? Realise there’s a ‘League Path’ and a ‘Champions Path’, but can’t work out what’s what? -
There’s a couple of buses (the one I get from Consett and another from Langley Park) that drop off and pick up there on a match day, so that on top of the rest of the crowd makes it pretty busy. I quite like it. They started opening upstairs last season with a big projection screen for any early/late matches. Even take card payment now!

The Marlborough. Not quite luxurious, unless you’re comparing to the Garter or Clock obviously, but still.

Did he resemble a prime Messi?
-
Yeah, my mates wife used to go to school with Peter Ramage and at age 14/15 he just used to take the piss out of everyone, dribbling past them like prime Messi.
-
Josef Martinez (now having to slum it with less talented players at Miami…) Him and Miggy used to do that celebration together then Martinez did his ACL or something, so the next time Miggy scored he did ‘half’ the celebration like last night. *sure our American friends will correct any inaccuracies in the above

About 7 I think
-
The club didn’t actually (publicly) confirm that it was unlimited until after they went on sale this morning. Dunno why really as it would have saved everyone a lot of time, hassle and stress.
-
I think it would help people judge the likelihood of being successful in a ballot if they did. Can’t see it though. Burnsie thinks we’ve sold over 200k though ?
-
It certainly would be. Doubt we’ll be told though
-
Be very surprised if it ends up being close to half of that
