Champions League 2023/2024: Group F (Newcastle, Milan, Dortmund, PSG)
SteV replied to Marko NUFC's topic in Football
Does anyone know if there’s set dates for when teams from each pot play each other? i.e Matchday 1 - Pot 1 v Pot 3 Matchday 2 - Pot 1 v Pot 2 etc -
Assuming you’re able to log on at the appropriate time
-
You any further forward with alternative offers?
-
That depends. If they put on sale an additional 30k memberships as a replacement, it’s actually going to make it harder because not all ST holders will have used the membership privileges, whereas if someone’s shelled out £35 or whatever to get one, you’d assume they’d be looking to use it. Obviously if they only sell the same number of memberships as they did last year, then yes, it should be easier.

Some nice shot prices for him on Sky tonight if you fancy backing one of our own.

Having re-read the article, and ignoring the headline, he doesn’t actually say it’s close. This paragraph is probably the bit where he attempts to sum what the situation is:
-
He broke the Wood transfer out of the blue. He did mention Isak long before we got him, although he may not have been the first there.
-
No, I wouldn’t say anyone has corroborated that’s it’s as far advanced as he suggested, and as I said, it’s probably fair to say he’s over-egged it. But the fact that something is at least happening with regards to it has been corroborated.
-
Fair enough. But we can’t have it both ways. We’re all super-thirsty for any bit of transfer news, but at the same time we want it to come with cast-iron guarantees.
-
Not in terms, of breaking transfers surely? Caulkin and Waugh virtually never do that. Agree Caulkin probably has the best contacts in other aspects though.
-
He may well be a grade A pillock, but it’s becoming increasingly obvious he’s the journo with the best placed sources, at least out of the local lot.
-
If you want to say he’s over-egged, for want of a better phrase, what he’s reported, fair enough, seems that may well be the case. However, the fact remains that the basic premise of the story, that we are at least making some kind of attempt to sign him, looks to have been backed up by numerous others, so he isn’t just ‘making it up’.
-
Because we’ve reached a stage now where if a journo reports we are interested in a player, who we subsequently don’t sign, that automatically makes him a bullshitter and a fraud.
-
Big game for Madders…
-
Aye, there’s being against it (fairly reasonably) and there’s making out it would be some kind of catastrophic error that would lead to our immediate demise.
-
I’m not sure there’ll be a non-playing CB role this season. Schar did very well to play as many games as he did last season. With the addition of Europe this year, he’ll have to miss a fair few more this season I suspect.
-
It doesn’t have to be him at all. In fact most us would think it probably better if it wasn’t. But, let’s just say it was. It’s hardly a valid reason to throw all our toys out the pram is it? He’s still a very capable PL CB, albeit with all the caveats around downward trajectory, style of play, potential cost etc. duly noted.
