“sporting event, hospitality and real estate company” The guy that was on the promo vid when they were announced was saying something about the fanzone, although I forget exactly what now
-
Sela claim to be ‘experts’ in setting up this kind of thing, so there’s a bit of hope there that they’ll come up with something half decent.
-
Fanzones are all well and good in half decent weather. Bit less attractive in February when it’s -2 and pissing down.

Absolutely. As long as he’s up for taking a £600k p/w pay cut.

Kane must be absolutely fuming

It’s a bit unfortunate that people that are associated with a fanzine/podcast or whatever outlet that gives them some degree of ‘exposure’, are always going to be at an advantage when attempting to court votes. Can’t really see a way round that though, unless the election was just based on anonymous statements. That seems a bit daft though.
-
Yeah, pretty sure you can Certainly in a case like this anyway. It’s going to do him no good going forward if he scored and knocked us out or whatever. Maybe different when the player is never going back (like Cancelo).
-
Aye, Cancelo played against Man City this season
-
£65m would make him one of the most expensive ‘one year left’ players in history

Some kind of Man Utd YouTube/podcast type person isn’t he? Not really sure why he would know anything in relation to Maddison?

Yeah, coefficient is actually irrelevant to Pot 1, although it’s always still displayed on all the graphics. -

He would actually fit their style of play quite well tbf

That’s another 27 pages on RTG

If the people calling the shots there had anything about them, they’d look at how ‘fucking us around’ worked out in relation to Lingard, and realise that taking a sensible approach would be a far better course of action. I won’t hold my breath though….
-
Surely some clever bastard can work out what our FFP allowance is and we can put all this to bed?
-
Not particularly unfortunately
-
Where is that definitively reported? Not trying argue against it here, just having really seen anything that states with any clarity how the deal came about?
-
I’m not sure he did? Admittedly the reporting around this seems a bit all over the place, so not entirely clear. Or perhaps any clause, and the subsequent fee, related to him only having one year left?
-
Well obviously, like any transfer (unless there’s a release clause) someone else can always come along and pay over the odds. But in those situations, you’ve just got to walk away and let them get on with it. It only makes things increasingly hard going forward, and you end up consistently overpaying for players. Man Utd being a prime example.
-
It all comes down to contract length. £45m for a 21yo on a long term contract is reasonable enough (whether he has the talent/ability to justify it is an entirely separate argument). No one is paying £50m for a 26yo with one year left on his contract unless that player is a bona-fide elite level player.
-
Brighton just got £35m (alright seems there might be various add ons on top) for Mac Allister with one year left. Leicester obviously aren’t getting £50m for Maddison in the same situation
