How is Man U derogatory?
-
Only played the Tranmere game this season
-
You need 8 players that are HG, but HG relates to any FA qualified team, not just your own youth system. So we probably don’t need Dummett for that at present. It is something we need to think about going forward though as the majority of our HG players are either not really good enough or in the latter stages of their career. Probably partly why the likes of McTominay are of interest to us.

Translates as ‘if you give us £40m you’ll think you’re getting a deal’
-
Why do we do this?
-
What kind of fool would spell their name like that…
-
Tbf, and putting aside our own interests, it’s good for European football in general. If a club as large and historic as Napoli uncover a gem, and then immediately have to cash in whether they like it or not, we may as well let the ‘elite’ set their Super League away. It’s not like Napoli are equivalent to Brighton.

Feels like we’re cutting our nose off to spite our face taking that attitude. We’ve seen countless times Man Utd have almost limitless resources. Because of their commercial revenues, FFP is somewhat of an irrelevance to them. Doesn’t feel like us giving them £20m/£25m for McTominay makes a great deal of difference to what they choose to do in the transfer market.

Hard, of course. Impossible, no.
-
The bizarre thing here is that most of us probably agree with overall point that it’s very unlikely Saka will leave Arsenal in the foreseeable future, and even more unlikely he’ll end up with us. But it’s clearly not an impossibility that it will happen at some point. And I don’t really know why anyone would want to insist that it is.

Alright I’ll rephrase: It’s mental to suggest any youngster will only ever play for one PL club.
-
Who’s changing the narrative… ??
-
Believe me, Arsenal are nowhere near the top of the dislike list… How many elite PL players have stayed at one club for their whole careers? Giggs, Gerrard (ignoring the MLS carry on). Anyone else? Absolutely bizarre to claim with total certainty that someone with the thick end of 15 years left is guaranteed to be at one club only.
-
Well, Arsenal could go back to being 6th/7th, and Man City (or any other big club) could be the ones dominating the league and playing CL. Granted, it’s all very positive for Arsenal at present and there’s absolutely no chance of him leaving in the short term, but we’ve absolutely no idea how things will look in 5/10 years time. Mental to suggest any youngster is a lock in at any club for the rest of his career.

Of course, to 99% of teams. However, they’re in the 1%. Just chucking out a casual billion or so in spending every few years. They obviously have to make some effort to obtain ‘value’, both when buying and selling, otherwise everyone would take the piss more than they already do when it comes to dealing with them. However, they’ve been pretty useless in that regard really, as every time they try to play ‘hard ball’ with someone it tends to backfire, as we saw when they pissed us about with Lingard.
-
If they really wanted someone like Kone, or whoever, they’d just go and buy them regardless. Despite their apparent ineptitude in the transfer market in recent times, money is no object to them. They’re paying Jadon Sancho £350k a week.
-
He had quite a bad hamstring that ended his first season under Rafa. But yes, his fitness record is a definite strength.
-
If he’s out running there’s no way he’s out for another month.
-
If Man City decide they want Rice, they’ll probably have to shift Phillips. Wasn’t entirely convinced he was worth the fee they paid for him, but certainly wouldn’t complain about bringing him in for a bit less. Wages could maybe be an issue like, assuming he’ll be on a hefty whack now. edit - Google says £150k p/w, which is probably a bit rich for us at present
-
Cup games suggest it would be far from great.
-
I imagine this exact same scenario played out in every other club that has implemented SS
-
How they deal with those that don’t want to stand and therefore have to move, will be interesting. Whatever we might think, they are being ‘inconvenienced’ to a degree, and the club do need to be respectful of that.
