It’s obviously incredibly shite for anyone that’s purchased one. Hopefully there’s some way to recoup their outlay. However, this kind of thing has to be done to stamp out touting. We’re all seeing these sites putting tickets up for £2k+, thinking ‘that’s a disgrace’, but if no-one does anything it’s never going to change. How these sites are allowed to operate in the first place when it’s supposed to be illegal to resell a football ticket above FV, is another question entirely.

Consett lost the Vase final there. But I guess they’ll not be classed as “Tyneside and Northumberland”. Think West Auckland did too, but same probably applies. Gateshead lost the playoff final too didn’t they (think that was new Wembley?). But that’s probably not a “cup final”. So, you can probably argue your stat is correct, although there’s a load of caveats.

100% This is it. This week is why we bother. We follow football for the buzz, the excitement. We’re playing in a major cup final Wembley. Recent results might not have been what we wanted, but worry about losing if and when it happens. This week, the build up, every interview, is there to be soaked up and enjoyed. If you’re under 30, you’ve never experienced this before. We think and hope we’ll be experiencing it far more regularly in future, but who knows, enjoy the here and now. When people talked about Mike Ashley destroying things for a generation of fans, this week was what he was destroying. The hope of something genuinely exciting. Newcastle United are back this week. Enjoy it.

Think it’s ticket only

Majority will be fine. Some might ask to see a match ticket. Imagine they’ll all be fairly rammed though.

A 50% discount on your ticket for a couple of seasons should quell most of the discontent I would think.

Only word of warning to that is that at the minute the forecast looks a bit iffy for the Saturday (still early yet like). Not sure Trafalgar Square will be particularly popular if it’s raining…

The only game I can ever recall leaving properly early (as in before injury time). Just been looking back to try and work out how early it was. I reckon it might have been when Borini scored the fifth. It was 0-6 and we were down to 10 men by the time I reached Barrack Road.

Gateshead must have been a MLF stronghold pre-92
