Yes, it’s difficult to disagree with that view. However, if I was playing devils advocate - Watkins and Wissa, plus some reasonable additions elsewhere, would give us a chance of a run in this years CL as well as the potential to qualify again next season. If we were able to pull that off and be in a strong financial position to go again next summer (hopefully with a proper compliment of backroom staff…), we’d have possibly made the best of a difficult situation.

Watkins would probably be the best ‘here and now’ replacement we could get. Whether that would be a sensible use of funds for the longer term is an entirely different matter.
