  1. So for clarification, was the handball in the build up to the first goal actually ok? Because Gordon didn’t score himself, and it was accidental, by the letter of the law this year that’s ok, right?
  2. Of course people are allowed to say we played poorly. It's the doomsday... "worrying", "Sunday's a must win else there'll be hell on", "Tonali and Bruno will never work", "Tonali was lazy" style posts that do my nut in. I think so many people on this forum / Twitter forget that there's another team playing sometimes. People expecting us to go to the San Siro and impose our game effectively, not taking into account that Milan are very good (like it or not, much better than us) with tonnes of experience of these types of games, the San Siro is a fucking monstrous atmosphere, the heat etc. These are all factors in why we played the way we did in those 25 minutes in the first half. Other than that, once we got a foothold in the game, we defended brilliantly and everyone put in a shift. The second half I thought was an excellent battling performance in a very difficult place to play football. Not many people go to the San Siro and get anything.
  3. You're entirely wrong. It was fucking deafening at times in that stadium. And the ultras sang so much throughout the game that the moments of silence actually felt really ominous. They were usually followed by something belting. Seriously, don't judge it from the TV. It was incredible in person.
  4. Well your feed was fucked. It was an incredible atmosphere in the stadium.
  5. You didn’t hear the away fans because the home fans / ultras were relentless for 95 mins. Really impressive.
  6. Fucking hell mate… take a nap. Must be exhausting being so revisionist.
  7. I agree completely on the Longstaff one. It would have been soft but if he’d have given it it wouldn’t have been overturned. The Murphy one wasn’t in the box was it?
  8. You’re insufferable man. Honestly. Boring as fuck.
  9. Nope, Eddie refuted that at the time.
  10. Apologies. I’m just sick of reading stuff like that this morning… didn’t fully read the context.
  11. Nominating that for “Post of the year” ?
  12. Been chatting to NUFC fans in Milan all morning. Thankfully their attitude towards the game and performance are far more positive and aligned with mine than some of the drivel / reactionary bullshit I’ve read on here (and from Craig Hope) this morning.
  13. This is the problem, right here, in one post. The entire issue with our fanbase summed up. A draw at Sheffield and a loss to City would in no way cause chaos unless you allow your mentality to shift so much that it does. It’s like people are trying their hardest a build a narrative out of fuck all. We’ve played some incredible teams in these first 6 games. Picked up some good points, decent performances in some games, poor in others. We will settle.
  14. I thought the kit last night looked fucking class. I’m assuming they’re going to start selling blank backed shirts now?
  15. Meant to ask, what happened after the corner just before the final whistle went? For about 10 seconds it seemed like the ref was going to VAR?
  16. Poor performance for 25 mins, I agree. The rest of the game was a dogged, solid display on the biggest stage. Though even in those 25 mins, I thought most of Milan’s chances were speculative apart from the Giroud one and the stupid back heel one, and then a great save from Pope from the corner. So 3 good chances. Again, I don’t know why it needs re-enforcing, but you’re talking about an away game at the San Siro, in that atmosphere, as if it’s an away game against Luton town. Milan are fucking good. They were always going to get some good chances and they were always going to come out and try to rectify their poor performance at the weekend. Other than that 25 minute spell, and that header at the end, I genuinely believe it was an impressive defensive away performance from us, with obvious room for improvement in attack/possession.
  17. Well then whoever those people are are fucking idiots. Every NUFC fan in that stadium tonight came away thinking that was overall a very positive night. It was the San Siro against one of the best teams in the world in one of the hardest atmospheres in the world. Of course we would be under the cosh for large portions of the game… we’re fundamentally not as good as them and lack their experience of the big stage. What we showed was a really dogged performance, especially second half. Be fucking proud.
  18. I truly believe there is something very badly wrong with the reactions of many people on this forum. In the flesh, apart from 25 mins in the first half, that felt to me like a very pleasing performance. Would I have liked more attacking threat? Yeah of course. But in person, the San Siro is an immense atmosphere (far out shadows anything I’ve seen at St James’) so to come away with a solid 65 mins of football and a draw is something to be really proud of.
  19. Erm, I’m sorry like, that’s sensationalist bullshit. We saw the metro was off, so we jumped on a tram and were in the centre of town within 20 mins.
  20. Also, I thought Bruno had his best game in ages. Botman was amazing, Schar class, Trippier class, Burn class defensively but poor in possession.
