My god. Just watched his presser. He’s not well is he? He seems all over the shop.

It’s not over until it’s over. We need to be aiming to win every game, and hopefully those 7 points we need will come before the final day of the season. I have full faith that we’ll perform well between now and the end of the season and do what we need. (But to reiterate, winning on Sunday would be amazing but it certainly isn’t “done”)

I'm not watching... are Fulham showing any signs of life?

Newcastle United vs. Arsenal: 07/05/23 @ 4.30pm (Sky Sports)

Not really. If we are assuming that Liverpool could potentially win all games by a couple of goals, and if we're saying we only get 6 points that would mean we would have lost 3, so the goal difference would nearly be identical at that point. 7 points guarantees they can't finish above us. -

? 7 more points needed I'm afraid. -
Not really been overly impressed by Arsenal to be honest. They are clearly a very good team but I’m surprised at how sloppy they’ve been at times, especially second half. We can definitely get at them ?

Good shout @Heron!!! -
I see there are a lot of calls for Klopp to get a 2-3 game touchline ban for his antics at the weekend. Could be a big deal in the run in if it happens.

James Maddison (now playing for Tottenham Hotspur)

Aside from his penalty I thought he was by far Leicester's best player last night. Everything good they did went through him. He has a sort of arrogance on the ball that people love when a team is performing well, but I guess last night that was shown up. -
Defensively poor but they’ve got some very dangerous players who can definitely get at that fragile Liverpool back four.
-
Leicester are making me feel a little better about Liverpool’s chances of winning all their games. I know Leicester have had a bad season, but they still have plenty of good attacking players capable of getting something against Liverpool, especially if it’s the game that can mathematically save them.

I’m not sure where Luke is getting that info mind, because Eddie said yesterday that Maxi still wasn’t ready to train with the group.

Yes, 7 points would do it, providing Brighton don’t win every single game (which they 100% won’t - they play City, us and Man Utd).
-
They play Villa at Anfield. Their two away games are Leicester and Southampton. I mean, I’m 100% sure they’re going to win every game. The question is simply can we pick up 7 points (ideally in the next 4 games so it doesn’t go to the last day).

I guess it’s just a question of how we’ll handle it mentally if Liverpool are only 3 points behind come kick off (albeit having played 2 games more). -
I’m at an 8.5 but it’s purely based on irrational fear of a major collapse from us. We should easily be capable of getting the 7 points we need at least (if we actually even need 7), but I still can’t quite bring myself to think we’re 100%.

I do think by his standards he was very poor first half, but most of the team were too. Tremendous again second half.

Newcastle United 3-1 Southampton (30/04/2023)
Shadow Puppets replied to BlueStar's topic in Football
The game went exactly as I expected it to when I logged on here this morning. The PL is very unpredictable sometimes, and it was never going to be all plain sailing. Was a very edgy first half… spoke to Sven’s family pre game and they said he was very very tired yesterday. Explains the first half. We all looked very leggy. Second half we were just mint. Never in doubt really after the first one was bundled in! -
Genuinely don’t really feel anything for them either way. If they’re promoted it would make some of my mates happy which is nice, but I genuinely don’t see them as that much of a rival these days.

Am I the only person who would quite like to see either Boro or Sunderland back in the PL?

Any news on Ward Prowse? Didn’t he come off with an illness the other day? -

I must admit the nerves are kicking back in for tomorrow. Not because of a worry about our ability vs theirs. I’m just worried that there might be an element of complacency from the crowd… if the crowd isn’t bouncing early on that sometimes finds its way down to the players. Fingers crossed for another fast start.
