  1. Think he's just a very good instinctual finisher, and if there's an area for him to work on that would move him up a notch as a player, it would be his composure. When he has time to think he is slightly prone to errors. Work on that side of his game and he'd be playing in the Champions League nee bother.
  2. Reece James on loan from Chelsea at Wigan looks a very good player.
  3. Same here, used to love watching Pards for them when I was 2. Proper footballer.
  4. That Ben Yedder/Munir frontline has potential to be very pleasing on the eye. Been a big fan of Ben Yedder since his Toulouse days and really want Munir to kick on and fulfil his potential.
  5. Difficult to argue with the numbers - we probably are the 7th best side over that period. In fairness some of the earlier games were quite bizarre and so often we were just a rub of the green or a wrong decision from registering more points, so overall we should probably be top ten. Our recruitment over the last year or so, while typically unspectacular, has been very shrewd indeed and overall much more positive than many clubs who way outspent us and that was probably a point Rafa was getting across last night in a really positive and clever interview. Even against the top clubs in those first half dozen games we were maybe one moment in the game from a result. Yep, Man Utd away is probably the most glaring of all, but Spurs, Chelsea, Brighton and even Cardiff away, where we were awful, we could easily have had more points board. Then there's Wolves home and away, Man Utd home and many others where it was an very fine margin from gaining and extra point or two. I'm not implying we were always the better side in those games, just that we were very, very close to better results. Mad to think that if we had got the wins over Wolves which we arguably deserved, we'd be 3 points above them. I know it's pretty useless to think in those terms, but just shows the small margins this season, where Wolves have been considered a success and we have struggled by many accounts.
  6. Fancy Cardiff for that, have more fight about them in what will not be a pretty game.
  7. Wolves' defending Should be a good game between us and Southampton next week.
  8. He said that the ref deserved to be thumped and implied the officials were bent, man. His complaint is spot on, but he went too far just as he always does.
  9. He was excellent tonight, it would be nice to keep him here but in a way I'm not too concerned if he does depart. If you look back to last season, Diame & Shelvey seemed so key to us and the loss of that partnership would have worried us all massively. This season the pair of them have featured less with the emergence of Hayden & Longstaff who now seem invaluable. It leads me to believe Rafa is just very good at getting his midfield pairing working together effectively in this system, and would trust going forward into next season (if he's here) that we will remain strong in the that area whether it's with him identifying a new addition or continuing to use 2 of the existing 5.
  10. There was like a Swiss school party in front of me at the Palace game, what a miserable game to go to Aye They were saying there's a canny few of them staying in Newcastle for 3 month on a gap year developing their English and seeing the sights. Clearly getting more than they bargained for having witnessed Fabian in the flesh.
  11. He's just fucking wonderful Was sat next to a group of Swiss lasses at the Palace game - Once I made them aware this dreamboat played for us and pointed him out they started creaming over how beautiful he is. I concurred and I'm pretty sure they thought I was gay as I spent the next few minutes declaring my love for him A bit of a national treasure for them, apparently. Surprised they didn't know he played for us as they were pretty knowledgable about football & sport in general.
  12. I thought he played better tonight than in the last few games for sure. Nice that he was being found more when peeling off the high line of Leicester. Unlucky not to score in truth. Very pleasing stuff indeed.
  13. I think the build up about Maddison pre-game and his good form of late had me more alarmed than what was necessary when he was in possession. We dealt with him comfortably, I think he found Vardy once or twice and that's it. Masterclass from our wonderful Spaniard.
  14. Agree with that, but Wes Morgan didn't exactly cover himself with glory on the goal, so maybe could chip away at him also. Yeah. Morgan was obviously played to handle Rondon's physicality but is vulnerable to Perez & Almiron. Definitely more goals in this if we keep our levels up.
  15. Ricardo their right back looks vulnerable to me, can definitely see Rafa asking Ritchie & Almiron to exploit him further. Poor defensive player.
  16. Good showing from us so far. Everyone seems up for it, Ki looking better which is proving important. Hope we keep it up. Front 3 look bang up for tonight too.
  17. Concede early (which feels likely) and we will get beat comfortably imo. Keep in tight until half time, and I may just fancy a draw.
  18. Messi awful McTominay pen Can’t wait for the second leg like. Barcelona cruised through that last night. Shows how far Man United have fallen for no shots on target at Old Trafford and a 0-1 defeat to be considered positive.
  19. Barca were so comfortable there after taking the lead. The commentary and analysis bordered insanity, repeatedly talking about how De Gea hadn't really been tested meanwhile Man Utd failed to register a single shot on target.
  20. Two players make contact. One looks to cheat and throw himself to the ground with an added twirl in mid air. Pathetic.
  21. Are you kidding? It was a pathetic dive by McTominay.
  22. He really felt the Brunt of that, bet he thought it was just going to be a Gayle.
  23. Nice to see Strasbourg doing well again and back in the top flight. Currently sitting in 9th, above Rennes, respectable indeed.
