  1. I agree. Don’t make things harder for day to day staff Thought about that earlier in relation to all this protest stuff, but getting in the way of staff and customers in-store who are just trying to do their thing would be an arsehole move and would ultimately make the cause look a bit pathetic imo. Have to be smart with it.
  2. But I thought we were the only team who held their ground over a couple of mill...
  3. I doubt it, there's quite a difference in quality. Whoever handles Joselu's graphics is really, really bad. Perez's look a bit more professional.
  4. More than happy to keep him tbf, one of our best players.
  5. Nah the problem is that he is a footballer.
  6. Apparently he failed to learn English since he's been here. Can't really expect Rafa to coach a player he can't communicate his specific tactical instructions to - if it's true.
  7. Not heard of him, but bloody great record he has got like, albeit low league stuff.
  8. Chronicle said a deal was unlikely a few days ago. For that reason alone I hope it happens. Free agent I think, was contracted to Porto. Doesn't make it any easier for us, mind
  9. He hasn't played a single minute for us yet ffs
  10. Best of luck, Chancellor. Quality player, just doesn't work out sometimes, does it.
  11. Aha, the old merciful attic. I've been waiting for Grenier for 6 years, bring him home.
  12. The Fulham fans would be gutted if he didn't end up going there like, they love him. Suspect he's still very much their first choice target.
  13. We finished 10th with pretty much the same squad. Cardiff, Huddersfield and Bournemouth are 3 worse than us off the top of my head. Southampton, Fulham, Brighton, Palace and Watford aren't much better if at all. This 10th place gives off false senses of security we finished 10th on 44 fucking points man it's not as if it was a good mid table season on 50-60 points. We lost 1 less game than the team that finished bottom and Huddersfield Southampton and Fulham have strengthened. Our squad depth is crap and our ability to score goals is a huge concern. As Rafa has even said this season will be even more difficult than last to hit that 40 point mark You've just given 8 teams there that you think we are better equipped than I beg to differ Every season is more difficult than the last. I said we were definitely better than 3 and on par with or better than a further 5. If you think we have the worst team in the league then you're just being ridiculous. With Pardew, Carver or McClaren in charge I'd be shitting it, instead I think we'll finish around 15th if we don't lose any first teamers (which is looking very likely). Agree with Spaceman. We definitely don't have the worst team in the league, not even close imo. There's easily a few worse off and a considerable number are about on par with us as said. Would even add Wolves to that list, nothing to say they have a better team than us. In fact I'd take ours on paper.
  14. I wouldn't be panicking about the season anymore but it's still a pisstake. Reason being is we've got a manager we can really kick on with and build and we actively don't want to; pissing about with his top targets (Pléa) and not releasing the funds for other areas. Those 3 signings I'd have but only because we're in such a dire predicament in the window. Yep true enough. It's probably time people stop going into transfer windows expecting big signings like Plea mind, it's not happening while Ashley is here, we know this. I'm happy with the players Rafa has identified as 2nd/3rd choices, I think the signings of Ki & Rondon if it goes through will be particularly astute. I get the frustration, but what I don't get is why people continue to build up what is now an unrealistic expectation going into windows and then flap about pissed off when their imaginary transfer window doesn't materialise. I'm just looking forward to seeing what Rafa can get out of this group of players again tbh, I loved watching the team again last season. Not sure what awaits us beyond that, but I'm not going to concern myself with that at present. Was Pléa much of a big signing though? I hadn't heard of him before the link and £22m isn't much in today's market. We did bid £20m, BMG came in with £2m extra and that was that, that's what pissed me off about it. A measly £2m extra allowed a midtable Bundesliga club to beat us to him. Really irks me. And the choices this window have been better than last season's summer, fair enough but it's not the first choices. I don't think expecting the club to back Rafa Benitez and get his first choice targets is unrealistic. It is for this regime, yes, but that's the frustrating thing. Not so much people demanding we throw £20m here and £30m there. I read we bid more and he simply wanted to move to Germany and Nice didn't get in his way. Depends what you believe mind, it's all just talk, no evidence - apart from the fact he's their player now.

  16. We'd still be short of a number 10, a centre mid (assuming Hayden goes) and a decent right back to push Yedlin Imo Manquillo will stay, Perez will continue as no.10 (deservedly so) and if Hayden does go he will be replaced. You're right, all those positions would ideally be upgraded, but I'd happy enough with the 6 players mentioned in the past few comments, I think we would be a far stronger squad with them.
  17. Would be 3 good additions, why shouldn't they vote yes? Coupled with Ki, Dubravka & Kenedy that's a good group of players. Not allowed to be happy like?
  18. We're not a shithouse club like. Our fans are glorious, manager superb and players give a fuck about the team they play for. Our owner is shite, but the owner does not define what a club is perceived as, stands for or represents. Think back to games against Arsenal and Man Utd last season and tell me more about our 'shithouse' club.
  19. Ended pretty well for City and Chelsea. If they survive the first season, they can easily not spend as much next year and bank the TV money. If there’s a time to spend money, it’s after you get promoted because the rewards of surviving are substantial. Yep, fair points. There's just a weird vibe around this for me, and I'd be more inclined to liken them to a QPR (that season) than a City. I can just sense a bit of a disaster tbh, can't put my finger on exactly why. Maybe this is what is called for nowadays though, and maybe you can't rely on good team cohesion and spirit carrying over from the prior season to stay in the league anymore (although we did it last season and Burnley have been progressing fantastically with those qualities at their core). Maybe fortunes need to spent and the big gamble that comes with that is the best bet for a team to survive in the league. I hope that's not the case mind, because fwiw I really enjoyed watching us play last season for the sheer effort, heart and work rate, despite lacking in quality at times. If someone offered me a team that gives their all, or a team full of big players who may or may not bother to turn up each week, I'd go with the former all day long, and I'd love to see those values reign supreme. Maybe I'm naive.
  20. Re: Moutinho to Wolves, they're literally paying for a name there. He's way passed it, hasn't looked good for Monaco for a while now and could look truly awful in this league given the pace of it. I wonder where FFP comes into play with them? They're putting all their eggs into one basket in hope of having a very successful season and becoming an established PL team for years to come. And if it fails? Owner fucks off after he's had his fun? Debt? Doesn't seem sustainable to me. Becoming an established Premier League team requires a lot more than spending big on players and cobbling together a team in hope of it working out. Great if it does, I'm all for the dominance of the top 6 sides in the league being less prevalent, but something tells me trouble awaits for this lot. Much prefer the Burnley approach myself. Call me jealous, bitter or whatever, but this stuff doesn't tend to end well. Here to be proved wrong like, will be watching them attentively.
  21. I can't be the only one who: 1. Didn't know Freddie Woodman was from London/Croydon and not here (although of course it makes sense with Andy Woodman being from South London - I had just never bothered to apply any thought). and 2. Didn't know that Gareth Southgate is Freddie Woodman's Godfather (which again makes sense through the Palace links what with being from Croydon). As you were.

  23. No they're not, you read that/interpreted that yourself. I used the word 'here' in a way which referenced the current situation of NUFC and the mood that surrounds it - this forum included in that as a microcosm of NUFC fanbase. I didn't once state specifically this forum, or N-O or anything as you have suggested, yes I can see how you coud have interpreted it that way, but you can give up putting words in my mouth because that's not what I said.
