  1. They haven't signed anyone from Lille for 20 million anything from what I can see. But of course if it means we can pour another glass of misery onto our situation let's pretend they have. You know, we're not the only club not spending big sums on players, I've looked at forums of other clubs and a lot of them are saying the "we're being left behind" stuff too. Everyone can't be being left behind, can they?
  2. That's why I like him so much too. It's very rare a player of his age & technical ability has the attitude and workrate/mentality to match. We're very lucky to have him here.
  3. Aye, into Germany I imagine.
  4. At least in 4 years time when he's winning the World Cup with Spain we can go "we made him, 1/11th of the that trophy is ours".
  5. Shelvey, there's a reason he's played for mid table and relegation teams his entire career since leaving Liverpool. Sure he's a nice passer but there's so much more to the game than that. If Shelvey is what we need then we have problems, i feel bad saying this as a Newcastle fan since i was 4 years old but just being honest he's not good enough. Aye, that's why you have partnerships. Shelvey is the best passer of the ball in the country by a distance. Passing is a huge part of the duty of a midfielder. If he keeps up last seasons form from now till the euros it would be insane not to take him. Also Shelvey "not good enough"
  6. Central midfield is awful. Either those players would need to be much, much improved by then, or they need Shelvey. I'd go for the latter.
  7. I'm sure he will become a very good player, he provided some great moments/games in such a short period of time. Genuinely looked class. Adiós Mikel, best of luck.
  8. I think you're missing the point tbf. The point is that even when there's good news they find a way to suck the joy out of it and we know it leaves us in the same position 12 months down the line with his value probably increased. It's a good deal that should have been a great deal, but either way, at the moment, it's a deal that sees us standing still. Until we actually get someone in that's going to improve us, everyone's going to rightly looking at Fulham, West Ham etc and feeling pissed off that one of the most well backed clubs in the Premier League is yet again rummaging the bargain bin pretending that it's poor, we're fucking sick of it. I'm aware of all that, but personally I prefer to focus on what's good. Kenedy signing, albeit on loan is great. Many of us thought we wouldn't even get him back on that basis this season. The news won't be dampened by future what ifs for me. Plus how do we know we aren't going to be much better than West Ham & Fulham this season? As we were last. Signing £40m players in great, sure, but we have a fucking excellent little squad who with our manager steering them gave us some amazing times last season. I can't see any reason why we won't do that again or maybe even more.
  9. You know that’s not what I’m saying man. We’ve just secured the services of a real fan favourite, a winger that harks back to the Ben Arfa, Robert, Ginola’s of NUFC’s past, yet all I can read is depressing comments. Let’s enjoy it, man.
  10. Which tbf might have even been the case if we had bought him too. If we don’t actually spend the fees we get for our players then I’m not even sure it makes much of a difference whether we’ve bought or loaned him. I’m just really pleased he’s here for the full year. That’ll mean he’s been our player for at least a season and a half, given how talented he is that may have been the case even if we owned him. Let’s be happy, positivity really does make a massive difference as seen with the England run this past few weeks.
  11. It obviously was a bad decision not to take the best passer of the ball in the country, but tbf I'm not sure he would have made much of an impact in the tournament. Southgate had a clear plan (to his credit) and seemed undeterred. Dier replacing Henderson would have likely still been the preferred sub for better or worse. Delph next in line, so I won't sweat it too much. Shelvey, I imagine, will be watching from home even more motivated to show up his midfield national counterparts this season and ensure he's in that squad for the Euros.
  12. Portuguese? Highly rated? I know the team just for him... Wolves!
  13. Some quality performances from the French lads there like. Think the way Varane, Kante, Umtiti, Matuidi, Pogba & Mbappe are playing is worthy of the stage of a world cup final. Unlucky for Belgium but they really couldn't get the chance they needed in the second half - more through the organisation and determination of France which was at times unbelievable. Roll on tomorrow.
  14. Class if so. Arsenal were after him last season. Fair play Fulham
  15. Whey aye. They're probably just getting photos of the sexy bastard in that lush new away kit. Will be announced on PornHub later on.
  16. Let's just enjoy the fact it looks like we have him for a full season and worry about the fee/deal later. No use in putting a dampener on what is such excellent news in terms of bringing him back.
  17. He'll have far better offers than West Ham man, they're a bit of a mess. He's also worth easily double their offer. Not happening.
  18. £20m man I thought we were bad with lowball offers. West Ham taking it to a new level.
  19. He’s from Brazil. He’ll go where the money is. As if it’s any different for English or German players. It is like. English players stay in England because everywhere else is forrin. Forrin = bad. English players also stay in England because they are simply not good enough to play abroad nonsense. Most leagues are choc full of shit. Our shits are just as good as those forrin shits. It's probably more to do with wages. English teams usually bring players from abroad either because they're very good players or because they're far cheaper than their English counterparts. Teams abroad would have no need to pay extra for an English player when they can get a French/Dutch/Belgian equivalent for less. Generally speaking, the only reason they would be after an English player is if they're the best out there/in their position - most of which are first team players at big clubs in the Premier League anyway so those moves rarely come about.
  20. Love hearing stuff like that. He was involved in some pretty memorable games against us at SJP tbh. Coming back to win 2-1 springs to mind. Rafa managing Liverpool at the time.
