  1. On evidence of this game, I think Lukaku; whilst he's made a good start for Man Utd goal-wise, has some growing to do to really look assured and at home for them. He still has an air of clumsiness about him imo, whereas players around him like Mata, Mkhitaryan, Rashford & Matic look so comfortable and complete. He's still made Utd a better team single-handedly like, but he'll have to take it up a level or two in the future to really look like a world class player.
  2. Higuain has had ample opportunities to make an impact in massive moments for competitive teams and he hasn't delivered. Not better than Kane. Kane was better than Ibra last year. With an ACL at his age, no way can we say in 2017 he's better than Kane. Kane is bang in that convo and it's great from an English perspective. I'd suggest that is harsh on Higuain to rule him out of the conversation because he failed to score in some big moments. His goal scoring record is absolutely ridiculous, as good/better than anyone in the world after Messi/Ronaldo. Can't really say Kane is a better striker than him - on par at very best.
  3. I prefer Cavani, Lewandowski, Ibrahimovic, Suarez & Higuain to Kane like, partially playing style but partially as I think they're all better players, or at least have shown it to date. More to come from Kane I suspect, how much is the big question.
  4. I think realistically you can give him more than 7-8 seasons mind. We don't know how he will age but him playing until he's 35 is definitely possible. 10-11 seasons after this one. Doubt he'll be hitting 20 a season by that point (although Ibra makes it seem possible) but he won't need to if he carries on as he is for the next 5-6 year. I guess that's part of the question with Kane, is he Ibrahimovic good or is he Rooney good. Which is basically a question of how hungry will he be into the latter stages of career. Rooney seemed to lose it where as someone like Ibra kept that youthful desire and hunger to score. Messi, Ronaldo & perhaps Robben/Ribery fall into that category too - where age doesn't seem to factor into their ability to succeed. To be fair to Kane though, his attitude and fitness seem spot on - but at the same time if his head is turned by one of the big clubs - even if just for a few seasons - his chance at the record will be gone.
  5. If he hits 100 goals by the end of this season, that gives him about 7-8 seasons assuming he stays fit & playing for an English club to score 160. Given it is has took him 3-4 seasons to be get to the hundred mark, albeit only like 3 seasons as a first team player, it's not a forgone conclusion. Massive task, definitely possible, but very very tough.
  6. Thought Kane had passed the 100 pl goals mark tbh, was surprised to see his tally is actually just 84 to date. Some work to do to beat Shearer's record like.
  7. You have to trust Rafa in regards to the Aarons thing. He not only sees him regularly in training, he also will have watched carefully his good display against Notts Forest. For him to still not give him a run out after that suggests to me he is lacking something to start matches. I think the best he can be for us this season is an impact sub, with Ritchie and Atsu seemingly streets ahead of him in terms of starting a game and staying disciplined to the managers instructions.
  8. The league that is won yearly by foreign managers...
  9. Looking forward to Atl Madrid v Chelsea like, some great head to heads all over the pitch & in the dugout.
  10. Couldn't watch the game as I was away filming in Spain, so could someone fill me in on his display and what we do going forward? Joselu starts next game? Gayle? (hold up play and general involvement in the game seriously worries me, good finisher or not). Mitrovic? IMO next in line if Joselu is having a bad patch/can't find the net for what ever reason.
  11. Good point, he seems a pretty switched on guy as well like. All he has to do is look at Cabaye et al, not the worst place in the world to be for a player, Newcastle. Especially now we have a real coach.
  12. I suppose they are quite strong in that area, Weigl seems talented plus with Sahin and now Dahoud too. Oh well, happy to benefit from it.
  13. Makes you wonder why Dortmund didn't fancy him? Or maybe he was never given the chance to show what he can do there as he has been given here. I read an interview with him where he said he felt undervalued at Dortmund whereas he has been very welcomed here, and I think seemingly small, human things like that can have a profound effect on a player in games and in training.
  14. He's predominately right footed, but with him being a ball playing defender he seems competent enough using either. If he can develop his left foot further I think we have our left back sorted for the season - who would have thought it...
  15. Yeah I believe it was, one of the first half chances. It's one of the positives to having a right footed player at left back, he can turn in field and comfortably look to the play the ball forward, just as Ritchie does so effectively on the right.
  16. Amazing badges Someone make a Badges of the world thread, then maybe posters can do their best MS Paint impressions of them.
  17. Pamplona is a nice place, the city walls right on the outskirts of the modern city centre are definitely a sight to behold. This magician being from there has made me grow even fonder.
  18. Not really, but not helped by news of a Gene Simmons lookalike and a Paraphilic infantilism sufferer getting arrested whilst trying to climb on the roof of Leazes Terrace lugging a sound system.
  19. Where states that? Would be interested to see as the terms have been a bit ambiguous amongst fans since he signed.
  20. I presume so, an appearance is an appearance. It may or may not include cup games as well, hard to know really.
  21. 15 left I think. He came on against Spurs late on and has started our other 4 league games. Assuming he doesn't get injured or dropped, he'll be our player before the end of the year.
