This lying about their gates may stave-off the self-consciousness for a while but the delusion of grandeur adds pressure on the club from their toxic fans (home record this year is relegation levels) who think they should be on a par with clubs that actually get 38,000 and clubs that get 25,000 but whose income is higher.

Newcastle United vs. Manchester United: 2/12/23 @ 20:00 (TNT Sports)
Wolfcastle replied to HaydnNUFC's topic in Football
I am assuaged by that a bit. Their not having an injury crisis or the spirit to put enough effort in against Galatasaray balances it out. We'd bray them now with even close to a full squad available. -
Obviously he's a good player but its the composure and brain I guess for such relative inexperience. Bet our recruitment team put as much thought into each facet.

The right wrong decision would have been for the referee to give it as it looked like a penalty but be overruled by VAR. What actually happened inverted the whole purpose of VAR and shat all over a bloody good refereeing instinct decision, something they'll make extinct.

Champions League 2023/2024: Group F (Newcastle, Milan, Dortmund, PSG)
Wolfcastle replied to Marko NUFC's topic in Football
Three of the four Champions League groups we've been in have come down to the final game. Only the melancholic planet bore under Dalglish (and now UEFA) could avoid it -
Their results and where they are in the league table is an utter headfuck Have they even played well once this season?!
-
Said it on the atmosphere thread, but nowhere is consistently good anymore. Were going back generations now for the last time anywhere at a good atmosphere more often than not.

Its the least shit I've seen Man United look for a good while. A mark of Everton perhaps though.
-
Were in Europe and challenging for things they're in the second tier mid-card some not quite elite club has been docked points (Spurs) Manchester club is on top Elite club whinging about new minted upstart (Blackburn) Boro in the 2nd tier appoint former Man United captain and England midfielder as manager England boring people to dispair. Everton in the relegation zone Arsenal getting done by the football authorities/manager behaving like a tit Chelsea midtable Scotland qualify for Euros Just waiting for Whigfield to make a come back tbh

Wonder what they'd think of ffp in that case. Having billions available but only being able to spend what they make ie less than West Brom and Norwich.
-
Deliberately misleading for outsiders and for people who know better but want to delude themselves. Makes us look hard as fuck on the other hand I suppose.
-
Football dead again is it? Cos something happened that might help Newcastle? I was amused by the the fourth top thread 'Dennis Waterman MLF?' though.

We had a 4-5' VAR wait + the mackems had a red-card and a penalty that I imagine took some time to sort Sheffield United had a massive wait for to take their penalty

Luton manager is at least as entitlted to kick off about this as much as Arteta but wont could well cost them a place in the PL in the end, Arsenal weren't getting near to Man City for the title
-
Liverpool used to struggle there the last time Luton were in the top flight. Even after the plastic pitch went....though they had Souness by then so hardly a fair gage.

Newcastle United 1-0 Arsenal (04/11/23) - Post match reaction from p. 46
Wolfcastle replied to Yorkie's topic in Football
They've dropped at the most one point to at best the sort of controversial decision all non-elite clubs have had go against them a few times a season. The disproportionate way they're going on about it just embelishes the fact more and more the more they go on. We sent a letter in after a string of decisions like that last season. -

Yeah foul or not he should be getting his arse kicked for how weak he was in that situation, cant take chances of getting a free-kick when its a certain goal for the opposition if its not given. -
Admire his balls, or perhaps later, for playing in the circumstances. Testament to the character of the individual and group as am sure he'll have put himself forward rather than being forced out there.

Matt Ritchie (now Technical Director at Bournemouth)
Wolfcastle replied to Fenham Mag's topic in Football
I do. Just nice for any of them that went through the horribleness here to get these moments. Especially if they half hoped they'd be getting them when signing. Obviously his attitude must be sound behind the scenes which earns it too. Really cementing that group feel all these games and injuries, though less of the latter woudl be lovely. -

You could disallow most goals that have ever been scored by applying modern rules/forensics to them. Maradona's great goal against England, in hurdling someone he had both feet of the ground - dangerous play. -

= Definitely never used to be, now fuck knows. Would negate squaring a ball for a tap in to someone. The defenders could just play off-side and the guy would have to score from a tight angle by himself as anything else would be off-side.
