  1. Just popped West Brom's score on. Early days of course, half hour gone, but I had to laugh. Go West, Bromwich Albion Go West, Bromwich Albion
  2. Which surprises me. I think of Howe as being the type that wouldn't like his methodical plans in training all week to hang on whether Wilson or ASM get injured on the Friday playing head tennis. Then he probably has alternate plans sorted and a general way of playing.
  3. Christ! the bloke is frustrating even when he doesn't play.
  4. 'That thing we've never been good enough to even qualify for and likely never will is s**t but were not' is so mackem
  5. Course it wont. These are people that don't count the Fairs Cup because its changed its name after yet who use the excuse "football wasn't invented in 1992" and only begrudgingly accepted the Premier League - to avoid on both counts accepting their rivals greater achievements.
  6. Blinded By The Sun some people re the Seahorses
  7. I retro hate him. Both he and Dalglish were managers when I got into football but when I see old stuff of Dalglish, like him generally, I'm minded to like him. Whilst when I see old footage of Souness trying to snap Hibs and Steaua Bucharest players legs in half like the c*nt that he always has been, I hate him even more.
  8. Still hasn't got Forest a shirt sponsor
  9. Dortmund and Germany itself are held up as a shining light in many regards. They've gone down this road with their original stadium. Suppose it helps that almost nobody outside really knows or cares what it was called before but nevertheless. Its the last resort for me but the authorities forcing us down this road has taken a lot of edge off it.
  10. Realistically some bitter pills will have to be swalloed. Bitter but not cyanide. Like the SJH era we know its all going to the betterment of the club and its the regret of not winning the title we remember now not the regret of the club buying the rights to "the black and white" from the fanzine, the platinum club, the Man U amount of merch and changing the name of the Gallowgate/Leazes officially
  11. Maybe the trick is to make it such a mouthful people use short hand. Middlesbrough's ground when it opened (for all I know still is) was actually called the BT Cellnet Riverside Stadium. So it just went by the Riverside.
  12. Not sure as lost interest, the will to live and the will for the club to live, but isn't it only called SJP now technically because Fun88 chose to call it that, from the SD Arena, as part of the naming rights they got with the sponsorship? I presume that deal is still in place. Did we get token sponsorship for the Gallowgate becoming the Exhibition Stand?. Sponsor the stands is maybe something to explore because who ever called it the Sir John Hall or Exhibition Stand really?
  13. A players one of these would be a good thread. Need a lower category than hate for Owen though.
  14. To be fair thats just made me realise or re-realise that before and after him I didn't care about winning or losing, even looked at a relegation as a way to get rid of Ashley so wasn't a concern. Apart from takeover rumours Rafa was the only link I had for those 3years, part of it was hope but part was wanting him to succeed for his loyalty and for his detractors. So adore might be right here too.
  15. Its interesting that with the exception of McClaren everyone at the lower end is, for lack of a better term, a c*nt. Shearer/Dalglish/Gullit are hard to like and dislike. Whilst the favoured managers have class and are definitely not c*nts To show its not success based I'd put Jim Smith (though he terrified me when he was here) and Ossie in fondness. Bruce would be my most hated. There's an, albeit sociopathic based, grain of likability about Souness that puts him just ahead of Bruce and Allardyce at least knew what he was doing - his goal was to play abysmal football whereas with Bruce and Souness it was an accident. Keegan on a different level to anybody else. Everything good we have now and have had can be traced back to him coming back.
  16. Not sure Ketsbaia's a good defence. Speed obviously was good buy but never played well under Dalglish to the point there were jeers I know PLC gets correctly pointed at and there was obviously some pressure applied for non-football reasons, but the PLC didn't make him spend more than the £6m he got for Ferdinand on Andersson and Guivarch as attempted replacements. Or replace Ginola with Hamilton penny for penny. He spent a fortune when you look at it for basically just over 1year. Keegan sold players too. When we signed Ginola/Ferdinand/Barton/Hislop/Huckerby - we'd sold Fox/Cole/Venison/Nielson/Mathie/Sellars penny for penny the same year.
  17. True, but I dont see why that's a cop out however. We ended up with a big squad with a handful of good players instead. His reserve/squad recruitment mirrored his overall - Serrant, Brady, Kelly, Robinson, Pinas, Gudjohnsson, Coppinger cost us over £2million and were complete duds. Keegan fetched up with Huckerby a year before by comparison who was good enough .
  18. I dont feel like we went backwards under Mclaren. We stayed up on the last day the year before and were on course for something like that again. Same with Gullit really. Didnt get any worse under him than it already was. Its more Dalglish's and Souness' that I consider personally because of the backing they had to take the club backwards at a frightening rate.
  19. yes the cheap tickets arguement will get dusted down in that instance, but not for every gate since they've been in that stadium that it applies to
  20. Dalglish did the worst job by that parameter. Turned Keegan's entertainers into negative dreck that was three points above the relegation zone at Easter of the following year. Though again weirdly don't dislike him.
  21. Don't know how many they took to the 1992 cup final but they got 16,000 for their next home game. They're the 1992ers.
  22. Reckon the owner might get some under the bus throwage now its safe. Didn't get backed in the window.
  23. Something like that. Did suggest an Olympic gallery at the old Wembley type scenario where its like a small extra tier literally hanging from the pre-existing roof. Were not after a lot I feel from the East Stand, couple extra thou. Couple extra rows like the extension at the San Paulo pre Italia 90. Since we'll be doing it up anyway at some point.
  24. Went over my head. Did recognise Steve Marlet though (isn't it?) of all things. Wilder for West Brom is probably a good shout all round. Too precarious to get creative with their appointment and they've been cleaned out by a recent scam.
