  1. How much more grief did Pardew get as well. Bruce got, what!?, one home game of chants of 'sacked in the morning' and s**t online like everybody else. He handled 95% less stick than Pardew got, worse if anything. Bruce's nice guy alibi helps swing it too. Pardew never disguised (couldn't really) his c*ntliness. Bruce seemed far more servile and likely legitimately friendly towards Ashley too.
  2. Exactly. Demand isn't endless but nor is it limited to what it is now. There was space to get in and see the first game of 92/93 but a few weeks later it was all ticket and soon after that an all season ticket lock-out for years and had to be extended again long after the hype and the KK era. The 6k increase then was instantly nowhere near enough and everyone's gates are way up now on the gates then. I just wouldn't make that mistake again if it can be avoided.
  3. He drove into my estate which is adjacent to a shopping centre during the pandemic after a shop. Realised it was a cul-de-sac before going back from whence he came. Drives to the shops like he plays some might say.
  4. I got Papavasilou (well 'Nico') on my shirt A mate got Tomasson on his I thought Marcelino looked good based on one friendly worth baring in mind
  5. Were being messed around for every player we go in for, don't we all know by now we got Wood because he had a release clause without that we may have got nobody, they almost had to do it and we all know it was a Killer/Sheedy needs must signing not a Cole/Beardsley. He obviously didn't play well but his replacement at Burnley was a downgrade and people were putting him forward of us. So he evidentally can't be as bad as people make out. Just not having someone to hit has a bigger impact on the team than whether he played well or not. When Ferdinand was out QPR played Devon White, a plank, but it allowed the team to continue to play the same way. I dunno, just not one for getting on players that aren't playing well but trying. Lazy ones and pr1cks yes
  6. "Ticket prices are rising, while Mike Ashley is guilty of possibly at worst being a disinterested badly advised owner, he kept prices low" Anything after that is redundant on account of being obviousy a mackem or a morbidly thick sad bastard Aye Ashley kept ticket prices low out of the goodness of his heart, a greatly diminished futile product and thousands walking away and refusing to come back because of him was neither here nor there.
  7. Horses for courses I guess. I'm more taking out of it knowing they're not there and them pretending to be. Would rather have SFX. They commentated on a game between Coventry and Swindon from Leeds after the Leeds game got called off and played it straight ,mentioning the situation multiple times. Just as well because the satellite feed died just as Swindon scored.
  8. Well grim as that thread is I did enjoy reading the 'Sunderland's biggest transfer coup' thread. Gyan, Wickham, Gordon, Nonceson, RIchardson and Giacherinni mentioned by the OP as possibilities. Damning by feint praise, their self annointed massiveness. What big club would consider any of them a coup?
  9. I got alerted to that when Tyler described it as raining at St James Park when it was actually snow. Then the fact he was also commentating on a six other games simultaneously. Its actually a major pet hate when they pretend to be there "here at Goodison Park" or classically mention the time just before the goal "52 minutes gone here at Selhurst Park" then, would you credit it, a goal is scored. You can dub commentary on without that and not insult our intelligence and lie basically.
  10. He probably did, its just ITV didn't have the rights to the PL or FA Cup and whose watching the mackems against Grimsby or Boro against Luton when Super Sunday's on one side and Football Italia on the other.
  11. Jo rocking that Argentina 78/Shawn Michaels special guest referee look again
  12. It was the early indirect free-kick given to Leeds that they scored from. Didn't notice that sperm headed c*nt that day.Remember Shola tearing Rio to bits though.
  13. Cant tell if there's a subtle Elliott, Bicycle, phone - E.T allegory to that comment or if its a massive coincidence.
  14. This is just me, but a fullback (e.g.) running past a winger being referred to as 'overload' makes my skin crawl. Used to think it was just Mick Lowes but apparently not. I know what they mean but I'd know what they meant by 'Simpson on the kitkat on the outside' doesn't mean it makes any sense. Am sure it used to be the far more preferable 'overlap'
  15. Reminds of that picture. You know the one.
  16. Lots of reasons, Chris-R and Hovagod above make great points and that Leeds game was a quality example, early goal against via dodgy referee decision, injury hit and underdogs to begin with which is where I was going - adversity. When we feel the team need us. The cliched 12th man. The game I immediately thought of was Sheffield Wed first day 97/98, new suspect team, no Shearer, dodgy pre-season, without saying it, it started and we all showed we felt that way, the best performance under Dogleash kept it stoked too. Barcelona the same a few weeks later. Whereas Sheffield Wed and Metz the previous season was not like that. Though under Keegan the atmosphere was usually at least very good despite having games in the bag at times, I put that down to the 'entertainers' unrelenting attacking football style where possession based modern dominance has the opposite effect
  17. Sunderland's last home attendance before 1992 was 14,000. Yet the myth goes we stole three times as many fans from them as they were actually getting. Not a stat but 31 teams in English football have played more games in Europe. Would have been more but Wimbledon, Coventry, Oxford and Luton were barred. Look on their massiveness and weep.
  18. Look forward to some booing of him in Europe competition in the near future. If he makes it.
  19. One of those was even since the war. Football wasn't invented in 1945 yi na
  20. Keegan era vibes about the squad morale. Ha, actually I just got a bit nervous thinking about that a few minutes ago. Pressure on against a newly promoted side etc. Its all good though. Being nervous about games a month ahead of time. The feel is a mix of first day against Spurs 93 and Charlton 98.
  21. Its not really about Sunderland though. Almost all the comments are about them obsession over and lying about us. Hardly any of us would know a single one of their players if they knocked on our front door. Infatuation? Its wouldn't even be interest but for the constant lies about us - like in life, some irrelevant f*ck tells lies about you, it bothers you, doesn't mean they mean anything.
