  1. Mag on there says we were regularly in Europe in the 14years before Ashley Mackems say this wasn't the case Mag produces chart showing 94/95 96/97 97/98 98/99 99/00 02/03 03/04 04/05 06/07 (9 out of 14) we were (not even including the Intertoto) Mackems switch to 'you cant use selective 14years' (even though its the most relevant) and ask 'what about the 14 years before the 14 years before Ashley' which includes the Heysel ban on English clubs and would otherwise include European football anyway.
  2. If you watched that clip in reverse I bet it would look like evolution in action. Some creature coming out of the sea, scraping along on its arse then learning to stand and finally walk. Then I realised that's ridiculous, a silly thing to think and post as how could it be considered evolution if the end product is Bruce.
  3. Wonder now if the reason I cleaned up at sports days and was moaned at by the head teacher to let someone else win getting self-conscious about winning (thanks c**t by the way), in hindsight is because I was doped up to the gills being asthmatic. Really ought to return the ribbons and chewits.
  4. Maybe the picture is the only thing thats straight. He makes a living off videos like that?! This forum needs to get on the tube.
  5. She-Ra supports us. Record goal scorer iirc.
  6. Ashley was making us like them. Nothing else to dream of except finishing higher/beating them (whichever means they're better at the time). He gave them relevance by stiffling us into their orbit when 2years in 15 or 5 in 20 apart we hadn't been. No wonder they love him. That's all they want and have ever had. Our being stiffled is pretty much them in decent times whereas their stiffled is Division3. Mackem I worked with knew the score, referring to him as "the best thing that never happened to us", they're just so warped, actually crazy when it comes to NUFC that they cant see the only reason they think he was good is because he was bad for us, if he was good (like Hall) they'd hate him. Its crazy on top of crazy.
  7. "bonjour monsieur Ginola...welcome to the Toon"
  8. Tim Henman used to train at Wimbledon in a Newcastle shirt in the mid-90s. Anybody know the story there? Got the pictures somewhere, think it was the 95-97 one, I suppose who wouldn't wear that.
  9. Planes, training and autoerotic-asphyxiation - the story of the Toons summer of 2022.
  10. Dont care who anybody votes for if they're good people, so what if someone prefers cola to pepsi. The other side, the other party isnt scum and the moral high ground doesn't belong to you because of the way you vote. Its a preference not a case of right or wrong. Its political bigotry and grandstanding really, being predisposed to disliking or demonising someone because they vote differently to us. The whole thing is mostly bullshit theatre anyway scenery for the public. Apolitical people have it cracked for me. Anyway, re Diaby and anybody else, whatever their percieved flaws, I'm just so impressed with what Howe and co have done that its not like we'd be getting a finished article anymore and the player can be improved on and that the capacity to improve is something we'll likely be factoring into our scouting now.
  11. If I couldI'd upload the video of Newcastle and Bilbao fans getting on famously in 94, documented by Futbol Mundial no less, to drive them up the wall Their fans ran over to ours to applaud us at the end and months later I could see Newcastle shirts being worn at Bilbao games on DSF.
  12. You certainly couldn't say we got more than we deserved in any other game in the second half. I didn't think anything of the QPR h, Blackburn a games e.g. at the time but having watched them back we were so much the better team, QPR was one way traffic. Hendry said after we deserved to win more against them than we had against Liverpool. Overall I think Southampton and Man U away were fair kops (possibly West Ham a), though Schmeichel saved a one on one with his arse at 0-0, and Liverpool deserved a draw here. If we got what we deserved we win the league and if Man U got what they deserved they'd not have been in it. Seen them get totally dominated at ourselves, Leeds and Liverpool - never happened to us. We deserved more from both Chelsea cup ties, Forest a, Liverpool a, Blackburn a, Spurs a, Spurs h, Chelsea a was a sneaky free-kick iirc.
  13. Weirdest thing is at my first two away games - mackems 91 and Derby 92 I seen about 3% of the game and absolutely loved it. The perspective then wasn't about a day out or entertainment just support really
  14. Think he's arguably the most under-rated player we've had I can think of, given he was very good at right-back 92/93, superb at centre-back 93/94 and excellent (international call ups, our player of the year) in centre midfield in 94/95.
  15. That'll raise club spirits (Etc)
  16. I agree, Keegan did it with Kilcline but I can image Kilcline was much more of a 'locker room leader' and had experience to pass on compared to Lascelles.
  17. Just watched that back this year, was a really good fast game, we were miles better in fairness. Howey was immense, prime flash in the pan Chris Sutton got about four touches. It'd be easier to list the games under Keegan that weren't really good. What were ordinary games then would blow people away now.
  18. Pointless explaining that Yemen and Saudi are not at war and half the people supporting his Yemeni club will be happy to have the Saudi lead a coalitions involvement. Reality aside, the joke will obviously be on us.
  19. Remember him getting his own chant at Notts County in 93, nearly 30years later he was still here.
  20. Can see why Milan, epsecially Maldini were so keen. Veteran of the misely Cappello era.
  21. Not glamorous opponents but Stoke away in 95. Its liquid. Great fast non-stop football from a team thats the sum of its parts with individual artistic licence Beardsley megging people all over the place, classic wingplay by Gillespie, Ginola tearing them to shreds. Oldham a 93 too, official birth of the entertainers, 5-a-side footballed them and Liverpool to death that month. There's just too many to pick from under KK. Spurs 6-1 in the cup under Sir Bobby flies by Is West Ham 95/96 has to be technically the best performance 41 shots on goal from 59' of play or something. Tino's assists and goal are f*cking sublime.
  22. Its not even a set number. It can change with outgoings and I'm sure the new regime will be flexible and adapt should someone become available. So not even the owners know really much less some journalist.
  23. I know we could get ridiculous gates, but Man U could get 100k and Liverpool 70k for most games if they're going well, most big clubs grounds are full and we probably have to accept whatever the capacity there'll be games where people can't get in who would like to and not aim for that. Be ideal to have capacity extension in hand like Man City if and when its needed of course. Not having that is the conundrum I dont know how we deal with. It will be complicated and expensive to bring the Gallowgate up to Leazes height and remodel the East Stand to squeeze a couple extra thousand on that only to find that 58-62k is full 95% plus of the time too and find you've sold yourself short and back to square one.
